Im just wondering since it seems like the Holy spirit doesnt or isnt talking to me or isnt telling me things... like I cant hear it. Do we get the Holy Spirit just by asking for him?

I know this kind of ties in with my last post to you in a different thread. We have the Holy Spirit when we be become born again believers and he never departs us even though on our own power we can try to drown him out.

God is faithful to His promises. When we are promised the Holy Spirit we will have the Holy Spirit. So, upon salvation we recieve the Holy Spirit and He is with us from that day on.
Maybe its time to stop struggling and just sit and rest in Him? Instead of trying to figure things out for yourself, pray that He softens your heart and opens your eyes and ears to Him.
Sometimes I feel like its like looking for my keys. They are there in plain sight but I am looking so hard that I pass the obvious.

For some reason when I ask god to reveal something to me, it doesnt happen.... least I dont notice anything. I dont know why.

There are a lot of thing in life that will try to shape your thinking.
One of these is fleecing everything with a prayer.
It is not a good practice to get into.
Pray yes, all the time. There is a difference in real prayer and "fleecing prayer".
"Fleecing Prayer" is self centered for the most part. It is looking for what God can do for me not what must I do or can do for Him.
Our relationship is to be God centered. Fleece prayer in most cases is not God centered.
Let me challenge you to do the following:
For example: Start with Romans Chapter 12 and list all the teaching and statement that you are to conform too. This is God's revealed will for you. Focus on that. If your focus is God's revealed will a large portion of everything else will fall into place "in a spiritual normal way". It is just the way it works. Forget about self and totally focus on God. I am not telling you to isolate yourself from the world, but re-focus.
It is hard because the flesh, the world, and the devil are all pulling us away from worship and giving God attention. He wants to bless you and he will - just do it God's way.
Hope this helps.
God Bless

just like someone already said we get the Holy Spirit when we get saved. The only problem is staying filled with the Holy Spirit. when we sin our relationship with God is not what it should be and thus the Holy Spirit being part of God shares in that seperation. if you are not experiancing his presence he wants you to restore a relaitionship with him.

It generally is not "Boom! Here it is." There are a few disturbed people that think they're God, but there's only been one God, Jesus. The Bible tends to cover a good many exceptions to rules.

To know whether we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit perhaps we should examine ourselves to see if there is any evidence of His fruit?
Galatians 5:22,23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

If you asked Jesus into your heart and ocnfess with your mouth that Jesus is God's son, and repent of your sins, you have the Holy Spirit! :)
