A Game For All To Play - And - Live By - Liberty

OK - Here is the deal.

The discussion is LIBERTY, Christian Liberty,

What I would like is not a long drawn out dissertation or explanation but Illustrations and very short comment on that illustration. Don't be afraid to use a scripture illustration.

There are literally 1000 of illustrations on liberty.

First what is liberty - vote in the poll first then post an illustration.

I will go first.

Illustration: Liberty can be compared to a football game. Sorry men I beat you to it. A football field with out yard lines compared to one with lines. One where there are no referees vs. having them. Christians Liberty is like a football game and has specific guide lines and some "gray areas" that "true professionals" or "mature believers" would stay away from or honor. The player is free within the lines on the field and other rules of
engagement. The Word of God is your guide line and rules of engagement.

Kind a surprised this subject has not caught any interest.

Liberty in most cases for many is a very gray area. In some areas it is black and white.

The whole concept of STOP SIGNS. Not just street stop sign, but ethical stop signs in all areas of life.

Take a controversial subject like dress. Where does dress cross the line?

Where are the lines drawn on the playing field of dress?

How big is the football field in your mind when it comes to dress, exposure, modesty etc?

When is not or is it ok to lie? Ethics. What does your playing field look like?

You are in a captive situation as a prisoner and your parents or kids are in a separate place. The people holding you captive tell you they will not murder you if you tell them where they are? Do you lie? What do you do and does it cross the line for you to lie?

What does your tennis court look like?

I knew this would be a very difficult subject to deal with. Christian liberty, i.e. responsibility smacks all of us in the Spiritual Wahsu (whatever that is).

We all have life styles that we are comfortable with.

Our individual line between liberty and law, so to speak, is skewed by our selfishness.

The things we watch, the places we go, the rationalization we engage in - not do this or do that, the lack of involvement in church, etc. the list is endless is a very personal issue.

I noticed the issue of Dress was not addressed. I wonder why? Is it an indictment toward us with respect to the every decreasing moral dilemma our nations is facing. Where do you draw the lines on this issue and are you afraid to deal with it?

Lying, do you lie and if you do how do you lie. Where is the line on lying? Is there a line on lying? Does Christian liberty permit lying? Does it permit self-defense? Does it permit you to withhold giving for any reason? Where is the line in your life on all moral issues, ethical issues?

What is liberty to you? Would we do many of the things we do if Jesus were here in person physically?

I wonder what liberties are you violating or obeying.

The two questions are so simple they hurt.

In areas that are obvious we don't answer because if we do we accuse ourselves, because we are in violation in other areas of our lives.

I wonder. There are a lot of folk that grace this forum and as of now only two have made a choice in the Liberty poll.

Is it because it convicts us and we will have to face our personal sin?

I don't know, but it is interesting to say the least.

God Bless.
