I don't get angry, but I flinch in pain.
Have to remind myself they do that because they don't know Him. Then I have to ask myself if I have done my part in prayer and love toward that end.

Well do you ?
Absolutely *not* . What do you expect ? They don't even know Him . They aren't really insulting Him but their own idea of Him .

What about when popular culture mocks Him, when someone like the likes of Marilyn Manson comes along, ripping pages out the Bible, or Madonna doing a mock crucifixtion. Martin Scorses "The Last Temptation of Christ". South Parks version of Jesus, NBC's the Book of Daniel. Or what if someone whom you work for is over you denouncing Christians 8 hours a day 5 days a week?

Flat out tell them you consider that verbal abuse. Ask them if they would appreciate it if you said the same things about someone they loved, and agree not to do so as long as they stop their own verbal abuse.
I have some friends who are ardent liberal democrats and would carry on at a great rate, making me very uncomfortable in their presence. finally i just had to speak up and remind them that not everyone felt as they did, and that I should have just as much leeway to voice my opinions as they did theirs. That shut them up in a big hurry because they didn't relize how rude they were being.

By not switching on the TV, not going to dodgy movies, listening to little secular music, I have elimnated most of that destruction from my soul. :)
If I hadn't read what Christians here thought of it, I'd never have even known most of it. Try that approach if you find it too distressing.
For those working in such an environment, you have my deepest sympathy - it really must be very painful for you.
Remember though, the Lord loves them, as He loved you before you knew Him. If they don't ever receive the truth, they will be judged, and we certainly don't need to add our own judgement.

i had a friend say the other day that Jesus could go to hell. that really angered me cause when i first met her she was so on fire for God now i have no clue where that has gone but things have gotten outta hand with her.
i know that it says in the bible that she can be forgiven for saying that but if someone curses the holy spirit they have corssed into a repobate mind and they can never be forgiven. i guess i'm glad she said Jesus instead of the Holy Spirit huh???

Good point. I am too passive.
I might have to do that regarding someone in the extended family sometime. It might actually open up the conversation to share the gospel if done gently.

I'm going somewhere with this.... I think alot of the times we as christians tend to get upset at people, when this sort of stuff happens and we have to rush out and defend God. The Lord is our defense.. We dont have to defend God and picket rock concerts to get our point across. No where in the Bible does it tell us to defend God.

Do you mean, do I get angry when sinners sin? Nope. I expect it. That’s what sinners do.
So, why should I be shocked or offended? God isn’t. He hears it all day every day and continues to love and draw them to Himself. Why should I be angry at them. I should be angry at the god of this world who has blinded their minds lest the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ should shine to them. I should love and have compassion on spiritually blind people as much as I would on the physically blind.
Anyhow, God is a big boy and can take insults. He doesn’t need us to defend Him.

It does make me angry, just like it would if someone insulted a good friend of mine.
I am glad it is not a sin to get angry, but I also have to remember that we are told that in our anger we shouldn't sin.

I don't, cause I did the same thing before I knew Him, including GD'ing every other word. I pray it opens a door.

I used to.. but I wasn't showing love.. I am supposed to show them Jesus in me.. so that they are drawn to Him..
Once a fellow in the lumber department comes upstairs raving over a mistake.. and he took Jesus' name in vain..
Instead of getting upset, I just said AMEN! He said Huh???
I said that was a prayer wasn't it?? He CAN help you, you know.. Great to call on Him in times of trouble..
He and the other fellows are the lumber counter don't swear in front of me.. *grin*

I get angry...... I think it's typical of prophetically motivated people. I'm not talking about sinning in anger, I'm talking about emotions, which are not good or bad.
hmm.... reactions of different people to a person saying insulting things about God, based on their motivational gifts:
prophecy - How DARE you insult the Living God?!
service - I wonder what this person's need is, he's probably really frustrated about something in his life.
teaching - Stupid people should really keep their mouths shut.
exhortation - You need to be considerate of those around you, young man!
mercy - Let's overlook this, this time, she'll grow out of it.....

Yep.........I'll admit it....
I get mad when people, who have the bible, read it....yet twist and rationalize it, instead of just believing it and acting upon it!
I have no patience for those who do so.
If that makes me awful in some eyes, oh well.~!

Maybe so, but I have patience with the constant judgment on fellow Christians as “twisting and rationalizing” instead of swallowing and regurgitating a few pet scriptures (at the expense of the rest of the Bible) and calling it “faith in the Word” instead of what it is – faith in a doctrine.

Are you using “prophetic gifting” as an excuse for bad manners and rudeness? One of the kindest and most gentle men I have ever met is a prophet.

You may call it a doctrine, Jim..... based on your supposed horrid experience with ONE WOF minister....... but I call it faith in the Word.
That is my option......... you have your own!

I am sure God can sleep better at night with all these defenders around. I’m getting a picture of Him whimpering in a corner while a troop of Amazons dress-down a computer geek who has just said something insulting about the, um, Almighty.

And I have a picture of Him shaking His head and saying: "After all I did for them, and all My Word says, they still believe I am the source of their illnesses and poverty. If only they would believe." :(

J4Jesus, I think that's the best way to put it. They really don't know what they're doing. Neither did I when I was away from the Lord and being angry at Him, blaming Him, cursing Him, and sinning against Him.
Check out this testimony of how one person absolutely hated God his whole life. Then, the Lord answered him and spoke to him. I asked the website more about this story, but the person who submitted it didn't want their name or any information about them released. But reading what the Lord said to this man is amazing. It's like the footprints story, but even more powerful.

I have this funny idea to stop a sinner from making fun of God.
Go to one of their parties, and when they're getting bombed out of their minds, go to the bathroom, and get in the tub and hide behind the shower curtain [hopefully it's one of those that you can't see through], and when one of them comes in and sticks their heads in the toilet, cup your hands around your mouth and say in your deepest voice :
REPENT, MY SON!!!

No, I thought I made it clear in the portion you quoted that I'm not talking about sinning in anger - there's a difference between feeling angry and acting rudely.
Ephesians 4:26 tells us to "BE ANGRY, AND yet DO NOT SIN" - so it must be possible to do that. The Greek word translated "sin" literally means to "miss the mark", so this could be translated, "Be angry, and yet do not allow your anger to miss its mark." We need to be angry at the right things - we do not battle against flesh and blood, but we DO battle.
I'm often around other prophetic people, and behind closed doors we often talk about the need for self-control. I have found that when prophetic people are not submitted within the Body of Christ, when they are just out there loose with no accountability, they very often lose balance and self-control and become ill-tempered. Their aim ceases to be true, and they are the first ones to shoot the wounded - particularly to shoot wounded pastors. On the opposite end, I find that prophets who stay in proper relationship in the Body are often some of the kindest, gentlest, most loving and peaceful people, exhibiting the character of God - just like you said.
God bless you

What do I do?
I remember that as Christians we still insult God and Jesus...
Romans 7
14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
Romans 7
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

What about when popular culture mocks Him,
I don't look at it as culture mocking Him but mocking their idea of Him or mocking the idea that fundies present to them . I have no problem with either .
when someone like the likes of Marilyn Manson comes along, ripping pages out the Bible,
That isn't mocking the Lord - He isn't a bunch of paper with ink on it . I do see it as mocking bible-worshippers to get a rise out of them . Does a pretty good job and I get a kick out of it , myself . :) They pretty much ask for it .
Or what if someone whom you work for is over you denouncing Christians 8 hours a day 5 days a week?
I have more anger over the fundies that are the usual cause of this type of thing . It is very difficult to talk to these people after getting huge taste from the religious rule-makers that attempt to keep as many people away from the Lord as possible .
