good evening friends,
there has been much serious discussion here as of late, and i thought i would just lighten it up a bit.
after a great deal of hot weather and a few days of rain, it is a lovely summer evening here in nebraska. it is sixty five degrees, and the night is clear. the crickets are singing, and i am sitting out on the patio sipping a glass of wine and surfing the net. the gentle breeze is fragrant with the scent of the flowers, and the wind chimes are softly ringing.
this is the day the lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad......

Sounds wonderful!
Yes, let us always remember to be glad, whatever the circumstances.
Laptop computers help, though! :)

I adjusted my character last night for some of the very same reasons! Gorgeous night and today is even cooler, drier and brighter than yesterday:) . And I'm in northern VA. I think we brought a bit of Michigan's U.P. weather back with us from vacation.

I must be strange. But to me, beautiful weather is a loud, cold, powerful thunderstorm.
Haven't had a good one in a while.

If you think about the United States as a whole, there is hardly any place that isn't affected by nature in some calamitous way.
California- earthquakes, fires
Western states - fires
Southern states- hurricanes
mid -west - tornadoes
south-east- hurricanes
The northern states seem to have it easier - unless someone else knows differently.

friend karen, you are right. here in omaha we are subject to tornados. on may 6th, 1975 sunflower and i took the afternoon off to go to the courthouse to get our marriage license. we had a nice lunch, got the license and went home. an hour later......
an f-5 tornado struck, causing three deaths and millions of dollars in property damage. it tore the roof off of the building we were to move into after the wedding.
my mom was sure it was some sort of omen.....

friend karen,
the weather here has been milder of late. that snowblower picture was from 3 years ago. we had three weekends in a row with a foot or more of wet, heavy snow.
this last week, while we have been on vacation, it has rained every day.

Well, it's good to know this kind of thing doesn't only happen to me!^_^
We have this week off (DH and I, with the kids), and I'm hoping the weather will turn a little more summery.
We had a fantastic heat wave a few weeks ago, but it seems to have returned to cloudy/windy/occasional showers.
