I've heard of Mennonites and Quakers, but not Anabaptists.

Could you tell me a little about yourselves. I did read the 'sticky', but I'm still interested in what sets you apart from others.

Thanks, and sorry for my ignorance.

The term Anabaptist is similar to the term Protestant. It is an umbrella that covers Mennonites, Amish, Hutterite, Charity, Brethren, etc... Quakers would not fall under the Anabaptist umbrella.

The anabaptists trace their origins from a split with Ulrich Zwingli-the Zurich reformer-as a Lutheran I'm sure you are familiar with Luther & Zwingli's battles.

The anabaptists did not believe Zwingli was going far enough with the reformation-hence the anabaptist movement was called the Radical Reformation. They were persecuted by all of the state churches and the Roman Catholic Church. Luther, Calvin, Zwingli all had not-so-nice things to say about them. As a result of beliefs in believer's baptism and refusal to bear the sword they were imprisoned, exiled, and executed.
