View Full Version : How much is a Big Mac worth where you are from?

Droobie

Couting in shekels of silver now, and considering that a shekel of silver would be worth about 1 US dollar (roughly speaking), how much, in shekels would a Big Mac be where you are from?

Also, one talent of gold in todays terms would be about $330,000 US dollars, give or take a few denarii.  What would you be able to do with one talent of gold?

In New Zealand a big Mac costs around NZ$4.00. Which is about US$2.00. A big Mac menu (with the fries and coke) is around US$3.50. On the other hand you can go to the a cafe and get a lovely morrocan meal (rice, chicken, sauces and salad) for around NZ$9.50, which is around US$4.75. (This is the lunch menu). Yummee.

I've said this before and I'll reiterate. I heard (can't remember the source now)--that McDonald's burgers are supposed to be the best fast food burger for your money because they only have an average of 1.5 rodent hairs per burger. And I think they go for about a buck fifty where I'm from, but I don't buy them so I really don't know. :)

I don't know. We don't east fast food and we don't buy it for our children. It's terrible for you.

Also, one talent of gold in todays terms would be about $330,000 US dollars, give or take a few denarii.  What would you be able to do with one talent of gold?

After tithe (and thensome) I would buy a decent house, a work truck for hubby and a minivan for me (God knows I need this. I don't know why He is waiting so long to provide a minivan for us). After that, I would probably give about 75,000 to missons via the Christian & Missionary Alliance. I was born on the mission field and raised in the C&MA so missions is a very important, close-to-my-heart subject.

The rest would be set in college savings for my children.

In today's currency - a shekel is worth $0.25 - more or less - the last time I was in Israel. A rough "guesstimate" we used when shopping was US$1 = NIS$4.
(NIS = New Israeli Shekel)

And I *still* say a Big Mac isn't worth one shekel!! :D

How much is a Big Mac worth where you're from?
I can't tell you what it's worth, but I can tell you it what it costs.......the possiblility of a heart attack and the very real causality of a big butt.

The other part of your question.....$330,000.00 would roughly buy you a nice new two story house on the posh side of town and a new car where I live.

But given that a talent of silver is 75 pounds of silver and a talent of gold is twice that...I wonder if the figure you're giving is accurate.

The-Doctor

Depends on where you buy it from...whats the exchange rate with US dollars and UK pounds?

around $1.50 but Mcdonalds nooooooo

The-Doctor
3rd January 2004, 10:08 AM
Lets see then a big mac ranges from £1.99 to £2.50 depending on where you buy it in London...central london being more expensive. So in dollars we are talking between 3 and 5 dollars?

;)

CJ.23
16th February 2004, 10:06 PM
A Big Mac Meal in Cheltenham is about £3.20 at the moment. With current exchange rates, if my American fiancee converts her money to English it's 2 dollars to the pound - the dollar is worth less than it has been in years, so I'm guessing it's about $6.40 for a BicMac, fries and coke. If you want that large it'll set you back just 10 cents under $7. That is a lot of shekels...

Er..

just done a long loud 1!

Or, to put it another way, for HQ price fixers..

As a dedicated bargain hunter, I conscientiously compare value there & @ KFC, 2/3 doors away

KFC Popcorn chicken @ £1.99 wins each time for me, in Sunny Southport

But in Liverpool, where McD & Burger King face each other, McD wins every time
