Found one of me with my Dad and my kids (except not the child on the far right). We were at an Aquarium Center in a tunnel where the waves rush over head - hence the silly look on my Dad's face. Anyway, this was about 4 years ago!

Also, edited to add a photo of my daughter, me, our ex-assistant priest on his leaving day, and my hubby!

1. I have characters turned off, so that hasn't influenced me at all :) Can't hide behind that.

2. I wonder if that means mine is naked.

3. As for Aymn and the waif theory:
a) I don't think he's fat, wasn't going there.
b) I just imagined a super-skinny-skater-boy look. Don't ask me where I got that from. Maybe he mentioned an affinity for Avril Lavigne recently. ;)

c) Dan Akroyd is Canadian, and that can only be a compliment. :)

This is me in India, about a year ago. I haven't changed at all really, still look the same.

And here is a fun fact - you see the beads I have around my neck? They are made from tulsi wood, which is considered sacred to Vishnu. You see, this photo was taken before I became a Christian when I was still a Krishna devotee. So there you go!!!

I don't wear them anymore, of course :-)

I know! But I do wear glasses, I just wasn't wearing them then. And the water in India is pretty dirty, so my hair is a bit blonder than it is in the photo. So perhaps in real life I do look a bit more like a blond Harry Potter :)

Doing well thank you. Last round was better than the first. Think the body's getting used to it. I'm getting used to it also. Next one on thursday. My family's looking after me and I'm enjoying being completely lazy. Thanks for your concern.

You and your family are still in my prayers.

It is possible and I hope it so! :)

The other may even be possible: My ancestry is English, and although it is definitely muddled, it is still somewhat significant (~15%).

What really shows however is my German, even though I'm a half-breed Italian.

The katana is the traditional sword of the samurai. It often comes in a set of three swords, the other two being smaller versions called the wakisashi and the tonto, An extra large version called the nodachi also exists.

They are created by a special smithing process in which the steel is forged and then folded, to which the process is repeated indefinitely. The more folds that exist, the more sharp, resilient, and stronger the sword (as well as the more expensive!).

Katanas are a part of the "Backsword" family of swords. This means that the blade has a single edge with its opposite side quite blunt. The tip however is extremely sharp, and the entire sword has a slight, graceful curve. The curve is such that the katana's attack is best described as a "cut" and not a "slash." Piercing attacks are also quite effective.

It is thought that the samurai's soul was bound to the katana according to the Japanese mythos. As such, great care was taken not only to make sure the sword was never stolen or taken, but extremely well taken care of. Much ritual was associated with the care and even proper use of the katana, even in battle.

Samurai usually carried two swords at all times: the katana and either the wakisashi or the tonto.
