What are some of your favorite CCM and Christian Rock acts?

I'm a huge fan of Blindside, Underoath, Kids in the Way, Stavesacre, Staple etc.

(If you don't like CCM or Christian Rock, please don't derail this thread by railing on it.)

Taken from the C.Rock section of my mp3 player:

Skillet, Delirious?, Kutless, P.O.D, Starflyer 59

And also Narnia and Goliath, who are both more metal-ly.

i'm not really a big fan of ccm & christian rock (i don't mind some switchfoot stuff, umm... does pete murray [the "down on my knees and I pray to God" one] count as christian rock? cos i like that one), but i like some gospel music, especially the a-cappella gospel choirs, i can't think of their name, but there's a southern american one who did the most awesome rendition of "down by the river" or something like that once, i loved it.

Neil Young?

Neil Young - Down By The River Lyrics

Be on my side,
I'll be on your side,
baby
There is no reason
for you to hide
It's so hard for me
staying here all alone
When you could be
taking me for a ride.

Yeah, she could drag me
over the rainbow,
send me away
Down by the river
I shot my baby
Down by the river,
Dead, oh, shot her dead.

You take my hand,
I'll take your hand
Together we may get away
This much madness
is too much sorrow
It's impossible
to make it today.

Yeah, she could drag me
over the rainbow,
send me away
Down by the river
I shot my baby
Down by the river,
Dead, oh, shot her dead.

Be on my side,
I'll be on your side,
baby
There is no reason
for you to hide
It's so hard for me
staying here all alone
When you could be
taking me for a ride.

Yeah, she could drag me
over the rainbow,
send me away
Down by the river
I shot my baby
Down by the river,
Dead, oh, shot her dead.

But, he is actually, Canadian.

I saw both Bloodgood and Stryper in concert over 20 years ago when I was working for a Christian bookstore. Is Bloodgood still around?

Stryper isn't still around, they're back again. They released their first album in forever like last year.

Never got into Stryper, but then again, I hate hair metal. (The other Metal however is just fine ;))

Good Christina Music: Bach, etc...
Good Rock Music: Rolling Stones
Good Christian Rock: U2

Lets all be honest and bring this into the light of Christ;
Petra, Strypper, etc.. are mediocre bands with Christians performers, who use their religious convictions to market their product, which is mediocre at best, and has no longevity, and they were only marginally commercially viable.

I listen to newer bands.

BTW, bands such as Blindside, Stavesacre, Kids in the Way and Mewithoutyou do awesome Rock music.

And no, I am not sheltered from standard Rock. I thouroughly enjoy bands like Nirvana, AC/DC, Queen, Nickelback, and a bunch of obscure alternative bands.

I saw Stryper back in the day too- and I can't wait for their forthcoming live DVD- the new live album and the new studio album are both very, very good. New sound etc.

As for Bloodgood, I believe that they retired some time ago but do put in the occasional reunion gig at Christian metal shows in Cal.

Hair metal (aka 80's glam rock) - you had to be there to 'get it'.

I think you'd probably like the new Stryper stuff.

Both Kansas and U2 are not really "Christian" bands, but they are bands with Christian members. The difference is emphasis. I have every Kansas album, and I would say only a small percentage of their songs deal with Christianity- although the majority of them would reflect Christian lifestyle and attitudes. On the other hand, your typical "Christian" band tends to be completely engrossed in nothing but overtly Christian topics etc.

As for U2- I don't like them at all so I can't comment.

Cool.

I used to play Dust in the Wind on guitar a lot, but my children have banned me from playing it now. They think it's too repetitious (and I guess it is).

I love "Carry on my wayward Son".

Neither put on a very good stage show on the 70's. (my son will be jealous when he reads I saw Kansas)

Hmm. The only CCM I listen to is some MercyMe and Delirious. I listen to other stuff only when I'm required to play the accompniaments which happens quite frequently. 'I can only imagine' has to be one of my all time favourite songs though...

Dunno, but Stryper certainly are, and as good as ever.

By far and away the best Christian Rock band there is.

Although Petra, Rez, and Delerious? are all very good as well.

From Britain, The Electrics always do a good set, as did(?) Tribe of Dan and Split Level.

Slightly miffed that they seem to have forgotten how many copies of Reborn have been sold in the UK though.

They owe us a few gigs at least.

By all reports both bands put on killer live sets now. I guess technology finally caught up with Boston and Kansas finally got the bugs ironed out of their stage sound.

Best live Christian band I have seen- Rez.
