I don't think i was searching for a particular subject, but a good book that i recently read is called, "Shepherd of Souls- The LIfe and Teachings of ELDER CLEOPA Master of Innter Prayer and Spiritual Father of Romania (1912-1998)." The book is by Archimandrite Ioanchie Balan.
An awesome read!

I have "The Way to Nicea" by Behr in my pile to read this summer. How was it? Isn't there a couple others that go along with that one, like a three volume series and that being one of them.
I've read St Athanasius on the Incarnation, which was profound and St Basil on the Human Condition, both small books but filled with insight.
"Upon This Rock" was a very good one I've read lately.
I've also been reading from a website some articles on Jewish roots in Eastern Mysticism, to better relate with Messianic christians on the truth of Orthodoxy. Some awesome interpretations from the OT, like on Ezekials chariot vision and Christ. Seems I can't post a link yet or I would. Very enlightening stuff from an Orthodox perspective.

Evdokimov's book is very deep, and very good. It does a good job building support for the ideas he has. There are some parts that are a bit rought to get through, but in all it is one of the better treatments I have seen on iconography.
I have published my past two essays on iconography in WORD magazine, in '00 and '05. This one will be published there as well. If you want to drop me a pm with you address or email I will mail/email you copies of all three.

I've read Dancing Alone by Schaeffer, and watched some of his videos. But I tired of hearing about his Protestant perspective so much, when I wanted to hear about Orthodoxy. I guess to polemic for me.
I'd like to read some more of Fr Seraphim Roses' books. But I read one, The Soul After Death, which I didn't personally take as church doctrine, but I enjoyed very much. And my bishop promptly had me read another book by Rev. Dr. Michael Azkoul, titled The Toll House Myth: The Neo Gnosticism of Fr Seraphim Rose.
I told my bishop I wasn't taking it as the churchs stand on the subject. But as an observation from Fr Rose. I have the other one you mentioned, Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future in the "to be read pile".

Yes, that is it. There are a number of articles at marquette.edu/maqom
I've been posting my observations from some on a Messianic forum. I wouldn't mind hearing a Jewish observation of some of the papers. As some of the info is to Jewish for me to understand.
The one I mentioned on Ezekials chariot vision was written by Fr Goitzin, and he has quite a few others there as well, but there are many by other people as well.

Indeed Schaeffer is polemic! Probably too much so for a Protestant seeker, esp. one who revered his father. He had some good points, but his tone was just too harsh.
As for Rose....he was indeed a beautiful man. His bio is great....he travels all over the philosophical/religious world to ultimately land in Russian Orthodoxy. I loved it and still do. As for Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future, it is a bit dated now, but get ready for some polemics! He shreds the charismatic movement. I found it to be a good read, if not klunky at times as he changes gears with every chapter.

My personal favourites from Fr. Seraphim Rose were his biography that Clement already mentioned and Genesis, Creation and Early Man, an Orthodox perspective. That one I found absolutely great. Full of quotes from the ECF about Creation that all have a huge theological significance and of course a complete debunking of evolution.
I highly recommend that one.

That is a good one. Genesis is such a foundational book and Fr. Rose does a good job of presenting a patristic view of the fall, marriage and creation etc.

I have read some of that book as well as the one which has numerous testimonies about him. Amazing.
In Wounded by Love, I like his description of the Church.
