I'm reading through proverbs for the second time. The sayings come at you one after another and each one usually doesn't relate much to the one before it. I find myself starting to drift off and not pay attention to what I'm reading.
It really needs to be re-organized. Put into categories like "Finances", "parent/child relations", "education", evil deeds, etc. Has some online resource done this already?

The sayings from the beginning, middle, and end will all come together.

Thats interesting, I guess I always thought that each chapter usually had one or two recurring themes interwoven through them. But, sometimes it does bounce around. To me, sometimes applying something that seems of a different subject to the same situation as the previous verse will add a different perspective. I love proverbs, I've read it through at least 20 times and I love it. Rich with practical keys to a holy life. Sometimes its easy to get caught up in the deeper parts of a holy life and run right past the practical daily stuff!

The book of James is called the Proverbs of New Tesatament.

Try looking at each verse seperately. Each verse is a miniature lesson about life. Take for instance 21:13...'He who closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself cry out and not be heard.' It is pretty self explanatory if taken by itself. It is giving the lesson that someday it might be you in that position. Wasn't one of Jesus' lessons...What you do to the least of these, you do to me? When I read proverbs I only read one chapter at a time, sometimes if something really grabs my attention, not even a whole chapter. Try picking a verse a day to reflect on or put in action in your life.

Of course not, remember that Solomon wrote nearly 1005 psalms and notice that the Bible was not numbered in the early times, I mean the whole Bible.
