From what little I understand (or think I understand) about the Apostolic Lutherans, they were originally from Finland, and seem a bit Pietistic. I think they (used to, anyway) typically shun things like television, movies, dancing, booze, etc. I think they also do not require Seminary training for their pastors.

Not a whole lot like ELCA, LCMS or WELS. That is if my memory serves me.

I don't wish to sound the horn of 'We are Lutheran, and they are only immitation Lutherans' but really, none of us are uniformly in agreement in various principles of Lutheran Theology.

Instead, I would like to extend the benefit of the doubt to all Lutherans, irregardless of jurisdiction, conservitive or liberal view, etc etc., just as I would not like to be viewed as an immitation based on someone elses views.

Christians are Christians, and if they should happen to be misguided, its a matter for the truth to illuminate the fog of such peoples minds.

However, who are we to say we have exclusive truth?

There are several quite similar groups they all trace back to Lars Levi Laestadius (http://www.answers.com/topic/lars-levi-l-stadius)

Here (http://www.answers.com/topic/laestadianism-in-america) is a good link that provides some background and a place to start.

I think the local congregation basically has one big weeklong service during the year and other than that, I'm not aware that they hold services, though they may at Christmas and Easter, I'm not sure. During the rest of the year I see at least some of the members attend the ELCA congregation in town. It seems to me to kind of become a Finnish heritage thing here, where many are now members of the ELCA but still take part in the Apostolic church.

According to congregational websites, most ALCA congregations have regular weekly services.
