My kids are at their third vacation bible school of the summer. All were at independant baptist churches. We have gone to a Methodist VBS but it's been a couple years because they went to mornings and they pick the same week as my church which also does AM. I am so thankful there are churches and volunteers who provide hours of safe, soul-enriching fun for young kids during the summer months.

We do VBS but I missed it.
I'm sure I'll volunteer next year though. :)

I checked other. When I used to go to church, whatever church I went to always did a VBS.

I haven't participated in VBS since I was in second grade, though. It's usually during the day and I usually work during the day.

Sadly, our church is just too little to have a Vacation Bible School this year.....We had been having pretty good attendance (for a small church) during the last two years - so we had them. This year we just don't have any workers.

I LOVE VBS. Being the drama director, I had complete control over what kinda skits we did for the kids and they loved them. Started off doing Diver Man--The man who was looking for the perfect dive and in the end dives into Jesus, then there was Lava Man who was trapped on an island until he found a map that lead him to the truth, and finally Manny, Sparky and Truth the Lion--two safari hunters who are always looking for the elusive beasts of the world to catch, but they can't catch Truth the lion, he catches them. Mmm, good memories. I miss VBS since we moved and had to switch churches.:sigh:

This year I was able to help VBS at my church as the craft leader. We did the Artic Edge theme and the kids loved it. Its a lot of hard work to put together a program full of lessons, fun and activity....but its so worth it. The kids get reached out to, not only in telling them about Jesus...but showing them that there is a group of adults that care and love them a whole bunch.

A wonderful witness, indeed!

If our church had vbs my kids would be going. I think it would be great for them and their non-christian friends.

Our church does VBC for elementary and up, but my kids are 2 and 4. Their daycare (at a Methodist Church) does VBS for 3 and up, so my oldest is doing it for the first time this year (he missed last year because they hadn't moved him up to the older class at that time)

My church doesn't have a VBS nor does it participate in it. For the most part, we find it to be a waste of time and thus engage and focus on other areas.

Yes! I love VBS!!!
Two years ago we tried something different and went to evenings. This year we're starting it on Sunday evening. This way it will end on Thursday evening. Summer weekend time is a hot commodity. This will make it less conflicting with parents'/families' weekend schedules. We're finding that no matter what time of day we had VBS, the closing day was not attended very well. Hopefully this will allow the children, that work hard all week to to memorize verses, to get rewarded for their efforts.
Huuby and I are co-chairs with Pastor this year. It starts this Sunday Evening. I'm off today to make sand boxes and decorate. :D
