Ever hear of Edwards Pie's? they come in all kinds of flavors, and they are all good ( at least the ones I've tasted) ;).
The company is called Edwards Bakery, founded in 1950 in Atlanta Ga. They made many baked goods and supplied area resturants and bakeries, but in 1966 Mr. Edwards decided to go with the pies only and they have been a hit since.
Flavors like:
Key Lime
Mocha Mudslide
Pecan Cream cheese
Turtle
Chocolate Creme with Hershesys
strawberry Sundae
Georgia Pecan
Lemon Meranque
Sweet Potatoe
Chocolate Silk
Oreo Creme
Banana Creme
Coconut Creame
Pinapple Creame
There are also Cheesecakes:
Original'
Strawberry Creame
Marble
You may be familiar with their taste, if not their name if you have eaten at any of these FF resturants:
The EDWARDS® Desserts found at Burger King, Captain D’s, Church’s, KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Long John Silver’s, Pollo Campero and Popeye’s were developed as exclusive desserts for these restaurants. They are not available for retail sale nor can we sell them to individuals.
But what is the point of all this parading of pies and probably making you drool?
Well, good news is, well good news, they are Kosher certified by the OU for one. and when you purchase one of the Creme pies ( and possibly the cheesecakes , although I can't verify that) you get a little extra when you finnish off your pie, Something the company calls a 'Personality Pan'
Their Pie pans are not the flimsy kind most pies come in and when I first got one of these pies after verifying their certification, I saw the potential for saving this pan after we were done with the pie, it would make a great pallet for paint, or a bead holder for the beads I make or numberous jobs in my studio.
However when we did finish the pie and I threw it in the sink to wash , I noticed something, there was writing on the bottom and not just the company name, like Mrs. Smith. :)
So far since discovering this about a year ago, I have saved my pans ( 3 to date) and thought I would share with you what is written on them, as I searched around the internet to see what I could learn about it and found practically nothing. :They have in their FAQ's a question about why aren't the PP's in every pie, and they only answer it is because they can only do it at this time with the creme pies.
So there isn't much publicity about this, nor history ( but if you know some, please share).
Here is what my three pans say:
1. Bless my little kitchen L-RD , I love the very look, and guide me as I do my best especially when I cook.
May the food that I prepare be seasoned from above
with your blessings and your grace, but most of all your love.
So bless my little kitchen L-RD, and those who share this pie,
Bless its homey atmosphere, as the years go by.
2. I must work the works of him that sent me while it is day, the night cometh when no man can work. - John 9:4
3. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to you homes - Proverbs 3:8 NKJ
Now, I only have the three but the majority ( 2) are in someway tied in to the pie, but not #2. '
I was quite surprised to see this and then a little upset because I realized that we had thrown them out before, not looking and me not thinking that it should be used in my studio for something. So now I am wondering.
So what do you think of this?
