http://www3.christianforums.com/images/icons/icon12.gifI just wanted to post this reminder for those who may have forgotten and also to those who have taken a hiatus and are now returning to the forum.

There are some of our mishpocha that are not allowed by the sites rules to post in here under normal thread headings. :(
If you wish to allow them to post their thoughts, and answer questions regarding our shared interests , feasts, Torah, Jewish lifestyle for example, you must put this at the beginning of your title of your thread:

[OPEN]then write your title after it

This is the only way the system will allow them to be able to post in your thread.

Please let's not forget our brethern who are separated from us , but include them when we can.

Note: The [OPEN] tag is not to be used for threads on trinitarian beliefs, you may discuss that with them in the Non- Trinitarian Messianic forum, located here (http://www.christianforums.com/f611-unitarian-non-trinitarian.html)

Please just post so I know who read this.

Todah!

Zayit
MJF Shomer

PS : If you do forget, and wish to open it, please don't post that in the thread, send me or Tishri1 a PM. :) and we will open it for you.

Thanks for posting this Zayit!

It feels so warm and welcoming when people remember to include us by putting [open] in the thread title!

I just read it, Zayit. I would like many of our threads to be OPEN due to the restrictive nature of our rules and so that our Jewish and non-Trinitarian Messianic brethern can fellowship with us. I miss them!

Just so there's no misunderstanding, our Jewish members are allowed to fellowship and ask questions in any thread.

So, just so I understand. In the main forum, if we want everyone to be able to contribute, then we must put [Open]?

Is this for any type of thread that isn't Trinitarian?

Thanks for the clarification Zayit.

Understand it here!

Hope I dont mess up when the time comes. :)

Maybe you could 'sticky' this thread as a continual reminder.

I personally have the memory of a seive.....What were we talking about? :D

Would that mean I could reply? I have seen things here I would love to respond to, but can't, so I have not been around here much.

Zayit, you may want to give an official note on if non-Messianics can teach or debate in [OPEN] threads.

Same question I had...although does expressing one's
opinon count as "teaching"? There are times when
a posting very clearly requests a response from a
Jew, but is this considered anything other than
"fellowship"-which I am not sure I really understand
the definition of? :)

From what I understand fellowship is only things like "How've you been?" or "What's the weather like where you live?" or "So, did you see the latest episode of American Idol"?

Hopefully I'm wrong, because my personal idea of fellowship and conversation goes much deeper, but I think that's the idea of 'fellowship' on these boards.

I agree, that isn't much of a definiton of fellowship, if it is correct. I always considered "fellowship" as encouragement, honest, respectful and non-confrontational discussion of belief.

From the Messianic Judaism Forum Code of Conduct (http://www.christianforums.com/t2588720-messianic-judaism-forum-code-of-conduct.html): ** DEFINITION OF FELLOWSHIP POST:It is
Essentially Fellowship is defined as discussion of topics of association, of companionship - i.e. discussions of things like friends, family, work..... these are fellowship posts. And posts that offer friendship would certainly be described as fellowship.

perhaps the current mods could decide what would be best for this specific forum as we have a more diverse crowd than the other congregational forums. perhaps fellowship could mean more than small talk :) I know I would like that very much.

I would also like it to be more substantive than "how're the kids and the weather".

From the Messianic Judaism Forum Code of Conduct (http://www.christianforums.com/t2588720-messianic-judaism-forum-code-of-conduct.html):
since religious beliefs play such an importlant part of peoples lives, it is difficult to have to avoid disussing that during "fellowship" posts....:(

that Code was constructed to give folks the perimeters necessary to keep them from violating CF rules - they are not MJF rules but CF wide rules re: interaction in the Faith forums between those of that faith and those who are not.

In fact MJF is the only forum in the CO section where our Jewish members can participate. And the [open] function is the outcome of an effort to find a way that we non-Trinitarian MJs can participate - without [open] we non-Trinitarians MJs would not be able to fellowship even in this forum :)

I am grateful both that Jewish members and non-Trinitarian members can fellowship with the MJs here :)

If we are granted more latitude in the perimeters of fellowship it will have to come from farther up than the forum mods :)

I wish we could relax the rules here more:pray:... but just in case a thread does go beyond the boundaries set up by CF there is a solution( dont break rules unknowingly and unnessesarily when you can do this instead):

simply take this thread to a forum that will allow the deeper discussion for those restricted members(my guess is that this will mostly affect our Jewish Brethren as they seem to be the most restricted), start a new thread there, and place a post here copying the url for that new thread, so we can know where you took it and those of us who want to go deeper with you can join you there.

It will take some effort to fellowship this way but those are sometimes the most meaningful threads going, the ones that take some effort...and of course threads like this do not come up that much, but if it should this is a better solution...

As long as the fellowship stays with -in the rules, keeping the discussion here is no problem... I will abdicate to Z what the definitions of [open] and fellowship posts in [open] threads are, as she has been doing a great job keeping all of us together, thanks Z:hug:

we are sooooo close here and that is what we need to remember, our closeness is what we need to preserve no matter what forum we are posting from, and we can stick together and make this work if we are patient and understanding of each other:groupray: (and the CF rules of course:thumbsup:) loving one-another can happen in any forum we find ourselves....

I am just sooooo happy we have such a close Mishpacha in MJF:clap:

Thanks for all your suggestions, we will prayerfully consider them and see what we can hash out with management. :)

Just another reminder, when making an OPEN thread you must Use Brakets, not parenthesis, if you do it won't work.

Like this [open] or this[OPEN]

Not this{open} or {OPEN} or (open)
