Hi all, I was in the neighborhood, and thought I'd stop by and get banned (just joking, mods, just joking).
Now for a discussion thread. Does anyone think it is possible that the "beast" of Revelation, the antichrist, might have been born, or underwent some other significant personal event, on June 6, 2006 (6/6/06, or 666)? Wouldn't that be a hoot if it were true!
What are your thoughts?

Okay. Hypersensitivity isn't an attractive trait, but it's up to you to overreact to my statement if you want to.

And judging others with labels or accusing them based on your own judgement is even less attractive, at least according to Scripture.

Wow, this OP got off to a great start! Should we start a thread: "Where were you on 6/6/06?"

I thought 666 was the mark of the beast, rather than the antichrist.
Wasn't the antichrist from a different book of the bible?

it was advice, not judgment.

666 is the number of his name, not a date.
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. Rev 13:17-18 (KJV)
2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. Rev 15:2 (KJV)

Amen!
That was the outcome of the previous thread on this topic, that the number of the beast is not a date, but the numerology of an actual name.

Notes from the Life Application Bible:
The meaning of this number has been discussed more than that of any other part of the book of Revelation. The three sixes have been said to represent many things, including the number of man or the unholy trinity of Satan, the first beast, and the false prophet (Rev 16:13). If the number seven is considered to be the perfect number in the Bible, and if three sevens represent complete perfection, then the number 666 falls completely short of perfection. The first readers of this book probably applied the number to the Emperor Nero, who symbolized all the evils of the Roman empire. (The Greek letters of Nero's name represent numbers that total 666.) Whatever specific application the number is given, the number symbolizes the worldwide dominion and complete evil of this unholy trinity designed to undo Christ's work and overthrow him.

I think when the time comes, it will be completely obvious to every believer who the number 666 represents.

I wondered if the people who lived in the year 666 lived in absolute paranoia everyday? Wonder if there's a record of how many baptisms happened in that year.:P

If I were a bishop that year, I'd switch all the Bibles in my city with copies that use the Revelation manuscript that records the beast number as 616. :D

Heard recently that the number was translated wrong and that it was actually 616 not 666, which means that the beast could be coming from Grand rapids Mich ;)

Don't worry, I just sent 213 pounds of Christian books up there. That'll straighten everything out. :D

Except that I think it was a reference to the area code in Grand Rapids--which is 616. What is it in Flint? 810?
