Nope, they sure don't :)

There are two different "shops" for male and female character bodies. The shop you can select is based on the gender you chose when you signed up at CF.

Oh I see. =) I wanted to buy a character for a newbie and I didn't know that!

Yeah...we can't buy each other any sorts of character items. Just armor and special items. The best bet is to send the person enough blessings to buy them on their own, and help them if they have any problems navigating that process.
