Holy cow!

If we had to follow 18 rules to get our prayers heard, prayers would be useless!

Although all those things can affect us negatively, God does not shut us out for doing them. He still hears us, not because we are righteous, but because he is merciful and gracious. Whether or not God answers our prayers the way we want him to is up to him, and he is not bound by the things we do or don't do.

For example, a woman has a inoperable brain tumor, and she prays that God will heal her. She prays with and open and honest heart after confessing all her sins and worries. But she dies anyway.

Another woman has the same brain tumor, and she is an evil son of a gun with a foul mouth and immoral ways. She sins in very possible way. She prays a lame and half-hearted prayer to get better. Her brain tumor goes away and she lives 30 more years.

Was God ignoring the righteous woman and honoring the evil woman? Of course not! He healed one and allowed the other to die because it was his will.

God's will cannot be made into a formula and he can't be manipulated into giving us what we want if it is not in his will.
