The Christian Race.

I Corinthians 9:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one
receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
9:25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all
things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an
incorruptible.
9:26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that
beateth the air:
9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by
any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a
castaway.

1.The Righteous Run.
Proverbs 18:10. The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth
into it, and is safe.

2.The Prophets Run.
I Kings 18:46 And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his
loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

3.The Evangelist. Run.
Acts 8: 8:29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this
chariot.
8:30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet
Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

4.The Covetous Run.
II Kings 5:20 But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold,
my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his
hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run
after him, and take somewhat of him.

5.The Father’s Run.
Luke 15:20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great
way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell
on his neck, and kissed him.

6.The Apostle’s Run.
II Timothy. 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept
the faith:

7.The Believer’s Run.
Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a
cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which
doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is
set before us,

8.The Church’s Run.
Galatians 5:7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the
truth?

Ah, what an excellent reminder to us when we start thinking that salvation by grace is a free license to do nothing.

Ah, what an excellent reminder to us when we start thinking that salvation by grace is a free license to do nothing.

We run for rewards, not for salvation..
