Is it okay to leave my church because I don't agree with a building project?

Personally, I don't think it's really significant enough to leave the church over, to be honest. However, it's your choice. I'd be more adamant in my opinion of it were a whole group of people splitting off and forming their own church over it or something, but since it's just you, it's more a personal issue.

If you contribute to the offering plate, then by all means you should be able to "vote with your feet," so to speak, if you are unhappy with where the money you donate is going.

What don't you like about this building project?

It is best to pray first and fellowship with the elders, then pray some more. Then follow the leading of the Lord.

Need more info as to why you disagree. I can envision several reasons where I would consider leaving a church over a building project.

If I left the church everytime I disagree on something it would be more than one time. I would leave when after being released through the Holy Spirit. His leading and His only. We can't always leave because we don't agree on everything!

If your not comfortable with something in your church, and you feel that the Lord is urging on to somewhere new, then I don't think there is anything wrong with it.
Pray and seek His guidance first. It is really a decision that needs to be based on Gods leading in your life.

I recently left a church. Their building project was one of several reasons. They planed to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a church building, well out of the churches means. They justified this with, “God will provide”. But i probably wouldn't have left if this was my only reason.

Your heart is not tied to a church, it's tied to God.

But...I think leaving because of a building project is kind of silly.
