The non-denominational Christian Church (ie, churches of the Restoration Movement) held their annual convention recently (the North American Christian Convention). My father has always been prominent in those circles.

He told me the big success of the convention was the meeting-halfway of the RM churches and the non-instrumental Churches of Christ. There was actually a joint worship service where the RM praise and worship team did P&W with instruments and voices, and the non-instrumentals did worship a capella.

Reconciliation is certainly something to celebrate - but for such a trivial distinction to have been inflated to the point where it broke fellowship for so many decades to be such a huge point of progress is somewhat disheartening ...

Its actually encouraging to me - they are celebrating unity in diversity. Allowing each group to worship according to their preference is a far cry from the attitudes in the 1906 split. Then, many Church of Christ folks considered instrumental worship a sin. That stance has softened considerably over the years so now most consider it a preference, not a sin. I know of a survey where a number of Church of Christ members were polled on this question: Is instrumental worship a sin?

95% replied no and only 5% replied yes.

That survey was done over 15 years ago, so I'm sure the large percentage has only become even larger.

I heard about this from my pastor who was in attendance. He said it was amazing and brought tears to his eyes more than once to see the reconciliation first hand and up close. I cannot wait to see the videos he brought back!

Are you talking about Kingdom Dominion. I hope not. Be careful. Love.
