Today officially marks the one year anniversary of my baptism and joining of my church! :) As I reflect on that joyous occasion, I remember how overwhelmingly happy I was to make my public profession of faith and share with all the reason for the hope that is within me. Just thought I'd share!

My baptism is coming up soon and it really makes me happy that after a year you are still so excited! I have that overwhelmingly happy feeling about my public profession so far all the time. :) Could you tell me about your baptism? I still don't know too much about them. I've seen a Catholic one performed, but never one in a Baptist church. :)

For about three weeks I was placed before the congregation (they made announcements) and they were told to ask me my testimony. Then, following my baptism, I was joined to the church.

As for the baptism itself, you put on this funny robe (it looked like a black choir robe, only it was PANTS! kinda weird) and join the pastor in the pool. He usually says a few words ( you actually have to give your testimony from the pool in some Baptist churches), maybe asks you (I was asked) if you have repented of your sins, if you believe that you are a Christian, etc. After you answer, he dunks you in the water and you come up. If you want to, you might be able to bring in a small hand towel to wipe your face on after you come up sopping wet...I didn't, but have seen it done.
