That's really neat!
I noticed you have Systematic Theology -- my mentor recommended that I read it and I've been a little hesitant on buying it (like I am with everything else) . . . how is it? Is it worth buying new or should I see if the library has it?

I never knew they had such a site. How long did it take you to log in all of those books? I love theology books, Church Fathers, Christian History, Psychology and Counseling... Spiritual Warfare, Prayer, Evangelism...

I have my library in topical order, I like what you have done. Is there a cost to get an account to do that?

I went to the site and looked closer, seems there is a minimal charge, that's reasonable. Are you happy with joining so far?

WOW! You have an AWESOME library! What great books! Any Reformed person would be so jealous!

Confession: most of my books, and I have a ton, are fiction. I like to store up the classics so that my children someday, Lord willing, will have good reading material. Doesn't hurt me any to have so many books on hand either! I've got my Calvin's Commentaries, though (along with several other great books).

Thanks for the link Envoy. I just started an account and everyone is welcomed to check it out (http://www.librarything.com/catalog.php?view=MatthewDiscipleOfGod). I only have entered about 10% of our books in there. The ones I have entered are rated.

No stars means I have not read it yet.
1 star means I disagree with the main points of the book.
The rest are rated by how much I agreed and enjoyed them.

I really like Grudem's work and I will have finished the whole book next semester. I highly reccomend you get it and start working through it. As a new Christian, it could be one of the most beneficial things you could ever do for yourself! It also shows a lot of wisdom that you know you need to take an active step in your own discipleship. So yea, go ahead and make the investment.

The first 200 books are free and then one needs to pay 10$ or 25$ for unlimited books for the rest of your life.

I will admit that when I look on my bookshelves and see the wealth of biblical wisdom, there becomes a glow which radiates from me as bright as the sun.^_^

Ive been seriously adding books to my library for the last two years. I'll admit this is why I havent bought a new pair of jeans in close to that long and why I'm probably too broke to buy nice clothes. ^_^ I've read a lot of them, but theres a number I have not and just pull out for reference. I'm trying to develop a set of NAC commentaries as its one of the best single sets you can get today and the 32 Volumes of the Church Father's fell into my lap by chance. My friend offered me the whole set brand new for $120! I couldn't pass it up, i'd be a fool.

They also say a theological library should range in the price range of a new car: Im shootin for a Jag.

Your really into origin's apologetics aren't you? ;)

You have a number of books that I'll be adding to my amazon wishlist and you have a couple that I have, specifically I give you props on the Lucado lifeworks collection. My pastor gave me that for Christmas and at first I was skeptical because he's a big name and I considered Lucado a fad. And then I read a couple of his books! Such depth and yet so easy to read! He's amazing.

Shame on you! :P Certain rather, :cough:, dandified peacocks I know would be horrified. When I think about all of the money some of my friends spend on their clothes from American Eagle, Old Navy, etc. (you know, like all of their clothes come from those places), my mouth drops. . .and the guys spend almost as much as the girls, I'm sure, by the looks of their wardrobes! Congrats to you for choosing the best option! ;)

lol, ive never understand men's girly ambition to shop till they drop. Jeans and a button up is all one really needs. I'll admit though, I would wear a suit everyday if I could afford it. I think it looks nice & conservative plus it isnt too flamboyant.

Yes, origin apologetics is certainly my favorite. I have not even started to put all those resources on yet. I also like church history and notice we both have Justo L. Gonzalez's books.

I take online courses that use the Wayne Grudem book and we may have had this discussion before. I do like it even though I have some disagreements in his origin section and a couple other areas. Another theology book that I liked is Basic Theology: A Popular Systematic Guide to Understanding Biblical Truth by Charles C. Ryrie. It isn't as complete though as Grudem's book.

I completely agree.

Oh. I was almost certain that that was what you meant! ;)

Anyhow, it's wise to buy books. . .though I have a feeling that my mother would like me to get rid of some of mine--I have way too many doubles and triples. But hey, I do give them away when I find a worthy home!

This ranks in the top 5 most useful things on the net. I sat here at the computer and looked around and probably got 20% of what's here, then there is the bookcase in the attic and those 2 boxes and the pile in the bathroom and...I've often thought about some way to catalog my collection instead of hunting for what I need (which is usually at the bottom of a box somewhere). Thanks Mark

My pastor says books are expensive wallpaper, LOL. I think they are a wise investment, especially Christian books- What else do I need to say?

A close friend of mine warned me before I started to study; to make sure it never becomes about the books but to seek and find God and remember God is a person. I agree with this because collecting books is great but we cannot lose sight of our Lord!!!

Wow! :) This is so much easier than linking them myself in my profile. One link and it is all there. Good deal! They are probably making a profit for the click throughs when people buy though, I have not investigated yet.
