My youngest daughter turns 7 tomorrow, and I just cannot believe she will be that old allready. Mind you my oldest girl is now 12.5 and starts high school next year. I dont feel any older than 10 years ago but I must be. It is a weird feeling. Do any others here with kids feel this way???

Yeah! I have one that just turned 6. We were noticing that the time had gone very fast, too. Rachel

Oh yeah. Yesterday I dropped of the twins at overnight girl scout camp for the next 5 days. I was telling them how they are big girls now so they wouldn't be nervous, but I think I was actually trying to convince myself.

Boy, can I identify with that.

Our first child turned 18 recently! I still can't believe it! When did that precious little baby turn into this lovely young lady? How can she be deciding on a Bible college? I just taught her to ride a bike yesterday! How could she go from being resident in the nursery at church to running it?

And perhaps the biggest question of all...when she leaves home to take up life and ministry on her own, will her Mama and I ever draw another easy breath?

And there are two to go! Father, grant us grace to trust in your protection of our dear ones!

God bless y'all.

Know what I did? I have a 17.5, 16 and now a 2.5 year old! I honestly think that is where my 2.5 year old came from. I was 33 when I had him. Right when my older two hit about 14 and 15 I started feeling really empty (empty nest early?) I wanted to have another; actually I would have more if I could! I think there is nothing better I can do on this earth than parent our children. No career can take the place of that! Luckily, I have been able to do both evenly it seems. My oldest is a senior and every day of their lives I thought about how they were growing up and how I might miss something, so I pay attention to every nuance as possible. Only one time in my life where I had no choice to work and be away from them do I regret. (you should see my disorganized picture tubs around here!! I figure when they are gone I can spend the empty time organizing them and it will help!) Praying I will be a good mother in law!

(You could always have another, you are still young!;) )

Yes, this is a bittersweet topic for sure! You have joy in seeing them grow in to the great person that God wants them to be, but......at the same time there is a sadness because they are no longer that little person that used to depend so much on you. Our oldest will be 15 in Oct. and our youngest (and last unless God spoke REALLY LOUDLY!) turned 4 in Apr., with three others ages 12, 9 & 6 inbetween. They have all been a joy to have around and I don't look forward to the day when they are all "out on their own". Thankfully, of course, God does not leave them on their own, huh? That is a comfort indeed!

Time sure has gone fast though, that I will say for sure.:sigh:

sighhhh my daughter is 36 and it seems just a few years when she was born...I remember when I was a teenager and thought that I would never see my 60's..nobody could live that long...

there must be a big hole that sucks in the years and spits out memories..some good and some painful...but thank God for memories....and great years!!!

Well, just yesterday my son said, "Mama, how old am I?" I said, "three." (which he knew) He said, "Well I wanna be four."

He is now 20, in college, and has been to Iraq and back--Praise God.
Yes, I said it was just yesterday that he was three, because that's exactly how it seems.

There was a seven year gap between my brother and my first youngest sister (I say first since there are two sets of us, me, sister, brother, then 2 really young sisters). It seems like yesterday that my parents told us that they were going to have a baby...and like yesterday when I first held little Gianna (now 3.5 ) in my arms. Both girls are now getting so big. . .not babies anymore. We're still working on my parents for another one. . .I mean, Lord willing, my mom's going to be home schooling till 2020 anyway--what's another couple of years! :D

Oh please - my baby is turning 21 in 2 months - now that's an awful feeling. My son will be 25 in 3 weeks - and he's a dad twice over now. How can my grandson be starting kindergarten this fall - just a blink ago his dad (my son) was in kindergarten! My children growing older is the one thing about life I really don't love.

And, like you, I'm not any older of course;)

No more for me, though the misses would in a flash! I have had my trip to the vet and had the wires cut, LOL.
We have 4 beautiful girls and that is enough, unless God performs a miracle and another child turns up then that would be a different story.

Seriously though, a mother is the most important job, it is hard work, often unappreciated and it is 24/7. My hat(if I had one on) goes off to all mothers who do what they know best and that is to nurture and care for their children. My wife was sick last week and I barely managed to cope, she is amazing the way she goes about her job. God bless all mothers.....

Fathering is just as hard. You know its true, I swear that it is harder work staying home than it is going outside to work! I am not sure about anyone else but it even seems my house stays cleaner when I have a outside job! (less time to mess it up?)

Adoption is also an option??;)

In the future the wife would like to foster children, she has a real heart for abused or unloved kids. I dont know about adoption though, have not thought about that.

The good news is that we're heading for a life where we won't get old or mourn the passing of this thing called time. And we will be more alive than ever before.

And just think, as they get older, the time passes by quicker. How many here will in the next few years be grandparents? My son turns 18 in 3 months. I just changed his diapers not long ago. Have I really been married 20 years already.

My "little boy", just turned 18 last week, how in the world did that happen. I don't know where the time goes, but when I find out, I'm going to go get some of it back.........................

I sometimes wish to do that also, but I know that such wishes are a waste of uh, time.
