View Full Version : QUESTIONS about Messianic Judaism

Hello everyone, I was wondering if someone can answer some questions because I'm curious about Messianic Judaism as I know very little about it. My understanding is that Messianic Judaism retains the Judaic customs and holidays while accepting Jesus as the Messiah.
I have lots of questions but for now I would like to ask two.
First, do Messianic Jews use the Septuagint version of the Old Testament like the early Jews did, who first followed Jesus? or do Messianic Jews use the Hebrew Canon of 90 A.D.?
Second, is Hannuka celebrated by Messianic Judaism?
I thank everyone and anyone who responds and hope I have not overstepped my bounds by being so direct. As I said, I am very curious about Messianic Judaism because I know very little about it and information on web sites are either anti-semitic or very general.
Once again thank you to those who respond.

I've been studying Messianic Judaism myself and can give my answer.
Septuagint from what i understand is written in greek and claims that 72 men were locked in rooms and were each to produce from inspiration from g-d, a bible, but ummm.. 6 men from each of the 12 tribes to scribe is in direct opposition to the word of g-d, i think the word Levi should sum up why the septuagint is centered around false claims and lies which makes it the work of deception. I see it false and in the same category as the Book of Judas. There is much more information to prove it as deception, but showing how it is in conflict to the word of g-d should be good enough for now.

I read the same bible that you do I bet...and yes I celebrate Hanukkah here is a great article about it:wave:
fascinating that Hanukkah is all about preserving the ancient religion of God to the Jews, from all the Paganism that tried to creep in:eek:

I celebrated Hanukkah this year for the first time and forsook Christmas and was soooo blessed. And Purim - what a wonderful time that was! It's been a wonderful first year as a Messianic believer!

The Bible I am currently reading is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB version), which I belive uses the Stuttgartensia for the OT text, which comes from the Masoretic text primarily. However, when doing study I usually either use the Hebrew itself (again, the Masoretic text) or NIV.
As for Chanuka, Ya, I celebrate it as well as the other Jewish and Christian holidays. Get more presents that way. :P

I just received in the mail the Stone Edition Tanach and I have the Complete Jewish Bible. I am one year into this as well and celebrated Christmas and Chanukah last year. This year I am going to drop Christmas because I feel so guilty about the origins. I am a gentile but I was seeking this for such a long time and want to be grafted in.
My cousin said that there is an excellent movie out about Luther. He was quite a brave man. He changed the world. I gotta rent it.

Channukah is all about the fight of the Maccabees over the forced worship of a pagan God, and the assimilation of all religions.... Yeshua refers to it in the NewTestimentMatthew 24:15-16 15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: it is also refered to hereDaniel 12:11-12 11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. IMO that day there would be the celebration of Hanukkah, the first one after the time of Jacob's Trouble has ended (after the Tribulation)
most every major event in the Bible happens on a Festival (God's Appointed Times) and even the minor Festivals reserve a special invitation for the King of Kings:clap::wave:
