"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." John 4:23-24

We came across this verse in a Bible study, and this verse really caught my eye because I want to get closer to God through worship and worship in the right way with the right intentions. So, therefore, what does it exactly mean to worship in "spirit and in truth?" Any specific examples?

Thanks

For starters, it has to do with worshipping with your heart, too not just your head. Sometimes we can sing the songs absent-mindedly without really paying attention to the words and what they mean. We need to remind ourselves we're not just singing songs, we're singing praises.

Another thing I like to do is I use my sanctified imagination during the music portion of the service to imagine that I'm in Heaven, in the throne room of God, worshipping Him there.
