Are any of the ladies here involved in the LWML?

Being a guy, I'm not. But my church has an active group and I've been really impressed. My girlfriend has expressed that she plans to start attending their meetings - even though the church is like 45 minutes away.

They have something called "mites" that is a collection for all kinds of great ministries. We're encouraged to place our loose change in our "mite box" and I've started doing that - it's money I won't miss and the Lord will use. And they have an on-going collection of diapers that are given to a pro-life center. I've added that to my list when I go to the store, but boy, diapers are expensive! But I pick up some for that collection when my meager funds permit - it's a GREAT cause. I know those ladies are involved in fellowship, altar care, and several other things around the church.

Finally! Someone replied :)

The reason I had asked is because over the weekend I went to our district LWML convention. I had a really nice time!

At our convention, we were told that our district collected about $90,000 in mites! That is impressive when you add that to all the other districts around the nation!!!

I have a cup in the basement for when I do laundry and find loose change. Everything goes right into the cup and then later into my mite box. I also try to put my loose change from purchases into my mite box as well.

The convention kept us very busy (one thing right after the next with no breaks!) but the speakers and the Bible study were really great to listen to.

The music was clap happy music at times and I would just leave the hall whenever that happened as it really is so shallow and repetitive. I'm a hymn gal.

Well, I'm not a lady, but I am the pastoral advisor of our zone.
