Hi there.
I was raised and am continuing to go to a Baptist church. Recently I have been heavily exploring all aspects of Christianity. Lucky for me, can always ask my Uncle Will (youth pastor at my church), my Uncle Allen or Aunt Bec (very religious), or a friendly pastor. I prefer asking my family. Also lucky for me, I have been exposed to nearly all views, albeit briefly, of Christianity. So even when I ask any of those four people, I know they're slanted in their views. Also very lucky for me, I stumbled upon CF!
Thus, I plan on calling one of the above mentioned people tonight, with what I hope will be a list. You see, I am asking TC to compose a list of things Lutherans believe. This list should have the belief stated, how it differs from the Baptist/or other Protestant beliefs, and Scriptural (preferred, and if so book/chapter/verse info please) or historical references. I will print out everyones' list and bring up these points and Bible verses to one of the above mentioned family members.
It may sound a tad silly, but I'd be extremely grateful if anyone were to help me on this. I know the views and lists I get here may be slanted as well, but that is, sort of, the whole point - me getting varying viewpoints. I also think it will be mighty fun to bring up all of these points and Bible verses to one of my uncles or aunts to see how they combat them. :P
Many, many, MANY thanks!!

You want us to do this homework tonight?? Yikes. That's a lot to ask for. Maybe if you broke it down into just one section like either salvation by grace through faith, or baptism or the Lord's Supper? There are a lot of differences and it would take a while to list the differences with scriptural references without just handing you a few links and tell you to look it up on your own.

Why not just point him to the Brief Statement of 1932?

Why has no one pointed him to the Wiki stuff we posted a couple of months back. I believe we touched on these subjects in the Wiki.

I haven't read the Wiki lately to know how accurate it is. Scott is it pretty good?

WELS has prepared a statement of beliefs. Use the following link and look for "Thie we believe" You will have to click on what language you want to read it in.

I even verified the links works.

Sounds like you already know what you disagree with them and are trying to gain the support of others. You mentioned combating them when all should be seeking the truth. I grew up attending Baptist churches, and disagree with them on multiple issues. Which of their teachings do you disagree with?

I am not sure. I was just wanting some points along with Scripture to bring up to my youth pastor - aka Uncle Will.

Well okay then Lutherans believe that we cannot choose God nor even cooperate in our salvation, the only thing we can do is resist God.
Lutherans do not believe in restricting baptism by age or ability to speak. Since the kingdom of God includes infants and children and since they can and do believe, there is no basis to withold God's grace from them.
Which brings us right into baptism and the Lord's Supper are Sacraments. Not just worthless ordinances.
The basic theology of Lutheranism is the theology of the cross, not the theology of glory.
Oh, and I almost forgot, Lutherans believe all people are born sinners in need of saving. No age of accountability beliefs such as Baptists have, which, from a Lutheran perspective just goes back to trying to have their doctrine of baptism without coming to the conclusion that all children are lost. The Baptist doctrine of the age of accountability directly goes against the articles of salvation. It gets really weird because under Baptist doctrine, those who "can't believe" are automatically saved, whereas, Lutherans believe, as the bible teaches, that those who believe and only those who believe are justified. And of course since the bible directly tells us that infants can and do believe we accept that.
I don't have all the verses handy, but those are some of the distinctives between Lutherans and Baptists.

Adding to the Baptism bit- I like to use this when defending infant baptism. Parents argue that they cannot "accept" Christ for their child, so they cannot have the child baptized. I say, "What right do we have to reject Christ for our child?" If we get our child's oppinion on everything, we would not be immunizing our children, sending them to school, etc...

So are you telling them that Baptism is like immunizing them against evil?
