Archbishop Dmitri (archbishop of Dallas and the South-OCA) will be at our church on Sunday to ordain our first resident home grown Deacon. We are so excited. Our church has grown so and we are in great need of a deacon. If your near Columbia SC on Sunday (Saturday for great vespers) drop in.:liturgy:

yes I first met him when I was a catechumen. Then again when we went from mission to parish and again at the All-american council. He is a great man. Great sense of humour. It will be an exciting weekend.

Bishop Basil (Antiochian) visited my parish about a month ago. I really believe that's what they people must have felt like when Christ was around. I'm not too big on feely feely stuff, but you could sense the presence of God within his grace. Bishop Basil is so clear when he teaching us of the Church. It's a blessing to have a Bishop around. Use the time hear someone speaking the mind of the Church and not what their opinion is about something. Our parish really enjoyed picking Bishop Basil's brain. We started asking him questions at 7:30PM and didn't stop until about 10PM. Bishops are a blessing. Thank God he didn't leave us to figure this out ourselves.

Bishop BASIL is a great man, and I believe him to be the most monastic and prayerful of all of the american antiochian hierarchy. It must have been a real blessing to be able to speak with him like that.

It was. We had him for 3 days. A Friday, Saturday, and a Sunday. It was a pleasure.
