Hello everyone,
What does converting to Orthodoxy entail? Is there a specific process? Is it formal like RCIA for Catholics? How long does it take?
Thanks!

No one size fits all process. It's up to each individual priest what the prospective convert will need. For some, it's months. For others, years. Each according to their need. :)

Yes, you find an Orthodox Church near you, talk to the Priest, and then what happens is "it depends". That's the official process :) :D

Ok, thanks.
Do you have to be baptized/chrismated? Do you make a confession?

That's a fairly loaded question and would vary from individual to individual. Generally in involves meeting with a priest either individually or as part of a class. Large churches tend to have classes while smaller parishes usually have individual meetings. No, it isn't a formalized process with with RCIA classes. The amount of time depends solely on you and the priest.

How?
Profess the Creed, accept baptism (if needed) and Chrismation and take Holy Communion to show that you are united to the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.

In most cases, if you were baptized Catholic, you will only need to be chrismated.

You are first blindfolded and then tickled with a feather, at which time you must profess an undying love for peanut butter, legumes, and tofu. You then must pay homage to the door ogres, and shout "Is Outrage!" three times while renouncing all things modern.
So, ready to join? :P ;) ^_^

I've never had it :(
Anyway, back on track! If someone is protestant, will they be baptized as well as christmated? Or, is it likelier that they will?
Someone at an OCA parish once told me that to convert, I as a Catholic could just start attending the Orthodox parish, since "[I'm] already confirmed." Is that correct? It seems to fly in the face of all else I've heard.

Depends on the Bishop. Most of the time if you were baptised in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit then you will just need to be crismated (As well as renouce former heretical beliefs and have a life confession). But every situation is different.

They were wrong, we don't accept catholic confirmation.

Ever notice that no matter how a thread begins, it always seems to take a sharp turn toward food?

What would Orthodoxy be without food?! That's one of the *many* things I missed in the Baptist Church -- the food!

It would depend on the protestent sect, if it is a sect that doesn't accept the Trinity or doesn't baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Spirit then you'd have to be baptized. Some pentacostal groups, for example, baptize in the name of the Son only, which isn't valid. As a Roman Catholic all you'd likely have to do is confess. The best person to talk with is a priest so your individual situation can be addressed. Generally speaking though, as a RC the process would be shorter for you.
