right?
We can't just use any video or music clip we want on our pages, can we?
I'm not very well-versed in copyright laws so I figured that I would ask before I added anything that I hadn't made myself. I don't want to break the law.

Good question. For every explanation of the Copyright laws the more confusing it is for me. I'm sure the music and the videos have copyrights to them. There used to be the idea that for personal pages it was okay to use them, and then the copyright lawyers decided that wasn't good enough and decided to go after everyone. I think it's all crazy unless someone is actually making a profit off of someone elses work. But that is just me.

Most videos that you find on the internet will have some sort of url in the bottom right-hand corner (or similar) of the video, so in my eyes, that takes care of the copyright problem. The videos are used over and over, most of them don't have copyright because they are just home videos or nobody knows who made them (or that person doesn't want anyone to know they made it!)
You can always say "Thanks to youtube for this video" or something. As I said, a lot of them come embedded with urls or some sort of link to the owner or site.
