My church has communion biweekly and I was wondering where this started? We were taught in confirmation that communion should be one of the main reasons we should come to church each Sunday and I believe it should be, but it's kind of hard when it's biweekly. I was just wondering who out there has weekly communion and if you don't have it weekly do you have any input on this issue?

I believe that for a while, some Lutheran Churches were celebrating Holy Communion only every three months, or so.

Our Confessions describe a much more frequent practice: "Now, forasmuch as the Mass is such a giving of the Sacrament, we hold one communion every holy-day, and, if any desire the Sacrament, also on other days, when it is given to such as ask for it." (Augsburg Confession, Article XXIV: Of the Mass)

The more frequent practice, as described above, should be encouraged.

I am no longer Lutheran but my former Lutheran church (and my husband's current Lutheran church) does offer Communion at both services every Sunday and on Wednesday nights as well. The new pastor who came about 5 years ago brought this about.

Prior to this in my Lutheran experience communion was offered every other week but at many churches communion would be offered one week at early service and one week at late. I read a funny blog article about one guy who played "chase the wafer" by crafting all kinds of excuses to alternate service attendance each week...unbeknownst to his wife as to his real motivation!

I have belonged to the same WELS church for 50 years. Untill about 15 years ago or so we only had Holy Communion once a month, but now we have it twice a month which I like much better.

I'm with Qoheleth on that. Since I am beginning my studies at CTS, I will not be preaching in a church until in the summer of my second year. When I am ordained I will offer it daily for those who want it that way unless of course my studies show me differently.

That's great. I wish we could do that here.

My congregation has the Lord's Supper every Sunday.
Plus on Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Eve, Ash Wednesday, and Maundy Thursday.

That will depend on whether or not the congregation you get called to even has daily services. Most do not. You could introduce the idea, but don't be surprised if it is not met with any level of enthusiasm. Every congregation is different with a personality of its own.
Some of the people here were a bit annoyed when I started wearing chausables for the communion liturgy. Now, I had never been in a Lutheran Church service where the Pastor did not wear one. Apparently, none of my predecessors here ever wore one. They couldn't understand why I was wearing that "Catholic robe" in a Lutheran church (nevermind that I chant the liturgy twice a month).

It will take a bit of teaching on your part to introduce such things in the parish. Don't go in like a bull in a China shop, like I did. It doesn't go well. Lutherans are very, very frightened of change.
