I don't know about you, but I am delighting in Shabbat tonight! It is amazing! And so as I am looking in the Word, I start asking questions... Here's one:

This is what happened accoriding to John after Yeshua rose from the grave:

John 20:19-25 19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be with you." 20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you." 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained."

this has never struck me until now. Yeshua gave the disciples the Spirit by breathing on them (how appropriate of course, the Ruach being breath, life, wind). Here is what I'm curious about:

If Yeshua already gave them the Holy Spirit as it says in John 10... what was different about the indwelling of the Holy Spirit on Shavuot? what did the disciples look forward to that was different? what do you think they expected? I'm thinking it has something to do with the Mt Sinai encounter with Adonai and the giving of the Torah. However, I'm still wondering what the disciples might have been thinking here. Yeshua said the Spirit would come after he returned to his Father...

what is the difference between Yeshua breathing on the disciples and then later they being indwelled with the Spirit? Is this illustrated in how the Spirit worked in the Torah? empowering and filling individuals for special service (Ex 31:3, Num 27:8, Judges 6:34)?

ooh ooh! this is the Scripture I tried to find...
14:16And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever-- 14:17the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you andwill be in you.
So perhaps the difference is "dwells with you" and "lives in you"

When Yeshua breathed on the disciples to receive the Holy Spirit, this was the first of the new indwelling of the Holy Spirit that every believer now receives when they believe. What happened at Pentecost was the Baptism of the Holy Spirit - the filling to overflowing with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. This is how I understand it. I have been baptized in the Holy Spirit and pray in tongues. It is a most precious gift to me. :)

So perhaps the difference is "dwells with you" and "lives in you" Awesome, i'm so happy to see someone is starting to be revealed the Kingdom here.

When Yeshua washed the talmidim feet, and when the others accused them of not obeying properly. Yeshua always had one thing to say. That they did not need to fast and morn, nor do they need to be completely washed head to toe. Because they were in the presence of Notain Ha Torah. The very creator himself, in the flesh.

He told Kefa that he didn't need to be comletely washed because he was ALREADY clean. Because of the words that Yeshua spoke they were 'pruned', circumcised in the heart. (where else would we go Lord, YOU are the Messiah.....)

Faith, that he was who he was.

Anyway, the dwelling of Elohim among them was the message throughout the Torah of Moshe. But the message Yeshua was commanded to bring to us was that indwelling of the Spirit 'within' you. Not just among you.

This was the good news, the Kingdom had come and His Spirit has been pour out IN His children.

This was what the Apostles spoke of continually because it's the Message, the gospel the good news, the report, the witness, the testimony we where commanded to bring to the world.

NOT TORAH OF MOSHE OBSERVANCY AS IF YOU WHERE ALL JEWS LIVING IN THE LAND OF YISRAEL!!

oy,...sorry.

But, it is what is written. over, and over, and over........

I pray you continue to be revealed the Kingdom Julie.

Messiah in you, our hope of Glory.

Shabat Shalom

Has anyone breathed pure oxygen? It is different than the poluted air we breath, and we experience a heady sensation for the pureness. Does that mean that we have the pure oxygen still dwell in us? Do we not need more of it as we get accustomed to it? Same with the Holy Spirit, while we may have had an experience with the Holy Spirit, unless we have more and more of the experience until we are in dwelling in it, we are not there yet.

Receiving the Holy Spirit is the first step in opening up our world to the pureness of God's world. Indwelling in the Holy Spirit is a greater length of time in the presence of God, but like the wind it goes.

Thus we should constantly seek to renew ourselves with him daily. Being filled.

"being filled" = enabled to do mighty works with the Power of the Holy Spirit, yes? This is my understanding :)

One does not gain more of the Spirit with time, but we can be more under the influence of the Spirit as we mature and grow in devotion and obedience to His leading in our lives.

just a thought :)

the deeper I get into Scripture the more I know that it teaches the Spirit as being One, united with G-d the Father and G-d the Son.
Praise be to this G-d, the perfect One!

Praise be to this G-d, the perfect One! Yes that is true, it is our choice, how far to we want to go, how much of ourselves are we willing to give up, how much do we trust? How much do we seek to do His will and serve His kingdom and let him provide everything else?

 Great thought!

It also opens us up for more revelation in the workings and ways of God... which in turn give us wisdom and understanding that is not of this world... but of the next. Which in turn change us in the way we see and treat the world around us.
