I came across a site many years ago that had the total listings of all the tribes throughout the bible in the different ways of listing, it is interesting that I don't think they are in the same order twice. One thing is consistant, there are always twelve, even though there are 13 tribes ( Yosefs sons got the double blessing) just like Yeshua had 13 talmidim, but one was of haSatan. Many think the tribe of Dan will be the one like Judas, as it is missing in revelation of the witnessing tribes.

This is where i find why Levi is not on the list:

8 At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day. 9 Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the LORD is his inheritance, according as the LORD thy God promised him. 10 And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also, and the LORD would not destroy thee. 11 And the LORD said unto me, Arise, take thy journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give unto them.

This is not the original paper on this subject I had found but you can check it out, it gives the various listings of the tribes in their different orders ( I believe there are 20 in all).

I'm sorry Stone, I still don't understand what you are asking. In your OP you asked :

Is this the names of the 12 tribes?

But in reference to what? As I posted there are 20 different lists, and different tribes missing in some of those. so my question is, What do you want to know, do you want to know the meaning of the listing you gave? and why it is in that order and why some are missing?

Sorry, :o :sorry: I's trying to help you but I don't understand what you want to know.

The chapter of numbers mentions the annointing of the alter and that it was done by the 12 princes of the 12 tribes and the names given, i assume are the 12 tribes.

I guess your stateing that their are 20 is where i am going with this. Why and how are there 20 when we can see clearly here that there are only 12 princes that are representing 12 tribes?

Were the other tribes not allowed into the land of inheritance?

and your link didn't work. :D

Why is Dan not in Revelations and now Levi is added as a tribe, after they had been seperated? I'm sure something to do with no temple.

First listing of Israel:

Reuben~~~~~~ (see, a son)
Shim'on ~~~~~~ (hearing, like Shema)
Levi ~~~~~~~~ (joining)
Judah~~~~~~~ (Praise)
Dan ~~~~~~~~ (G-d is my judge)
Naphtali ~~~~~~ (my wrestling)
Gad ~~~~~~~~ (a troop, or soldier) can mean to overcome as well
Asher ~~~~~~~ (Happy)
Yissakhar ~~~~~ (hire reward)
Z'vulan ~~~~~~ (living together)
Yosef ~~~~~~~ (may he add)
Benyamin ~~~~~ (son of my right hand)

Last Listing of Israel:

Rev 7:5-8
the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed ~~~~~~~ (Praise)
the tribe of Reuben 12,000 were sealed ~~~~~~(see a son)
the tribe of Gad 12,000 were sealed ~~~~~~~~ (troop or soldier)
the tribe of Asher 12,000 were sealed ~~~~~~~~(Happy)
the tribe of Naphtali 12,000 were sealed ~~~~~~(my wrestling)
the tribe of Manasseh 12,000 were sealed ~~~~(cause to forget)
the tribe of Simeon 12,000 were sealed ~~~~~~~(hear)
the tribe of Levi 12,000 were sealed~~~~~~~~~~(joining)
the tribe of Issachar 12,000 were sealed ~~~~~~~(hire, reward)
the tribe of Zebulun 12,000 were sealed ~~~~~~(living together)
the tribe of Joseph 12,000 were sealed ~~~~~~~(may he add)
tribe of Benjamin 12,000 were sealed ~~~(son of my right hand)

Now, notice what is missing? the tribe of Dan, and what does the name of Dan mean? Judging.

In this list of witnesses, they are there to save, not to judge.

Yeshua said, I have not come to judge the world but to save it. At this time of the witnesses He is still trying to save, judging comes after that.

Something else I noticed while compiling these lists, in the very first, which is the birth order by looking at the names we can see something interesting.

Reuben~~~~~~ (see, a son)
Shim'on ~~~~~~ (hearing, like Shema)
Levi ~~~~~~~~ (joining)
Judah~~~~~~~ (Praise)
Dan ~~~~~~~~ (G-d is my judge)
Naphtali ~~~~~~ (my wrestling)
Gad ~~~~~~~~ (a troop, or soldier) can mean to overcome as well
Asher ~~~~~~~ (Happy)
Yissakhar ~~~~~ (hire reward)
Z'vulan ~~~~~~ (living together)
Yosef ~~~~~~~ (may he add)
Benyamin ~~~~~ (son of my right hand)

The first son is natural, Leah declares upon seeing her first born 'See! a son! , It is the first son, like Adam was the first son of G-d.

The last son of Israel is Benyahmin, he is born after the L-RD changes Ya'akov's name to Israel. His name means, son of my right hand. Yeshua is many times referred as sitting at the right hand of the Father. He is the last son, the last Adam.

stone - there are some 20 different lists of the 12 tribes(not 20 different tribes)

in the last listing, in Rev 7, Gad and Ephriam are not listed, Levi and Yoseph are :)

Why is Dan not in Revelations and now Levi is added as a tribe, after they had been seperated? I'm sure something to do with no temple.

I think because Dan disappeared even before Israel was conquered and dispersed by Syria. Dan had already assimilated and lost it's identity into the pagan societies surrounding it.

There is some thought also that the antichrist might be from Dan, though how that would be proved I don't know.

No, I don't believe that the anti-christ will be from Dan. I am more of the opinion he'll be from Judah, so that he can claim to be Messiah (while "fulfilling" prophecies that Jewish people would recognize).

Dan was not fully wiped out... G-d knows who Dan's descendants are and the blessings and promises given to Dan will be fulfilled eventually, just like to all the Tribes. :)
