I wanted to share with you the newest awards contest the Garippa Foundation is running to help propagate the gospel and inspire Christians.
The First Annual
Christian Apologist Writing Awards
1st Prize $1000
2nd Prize 5 @ $500
3rd Prize 10 @ $250
The Christian Apologist Writing Awards program is designed to inspire Christians to act as advocates of the faith in the form of Letters to the Editor sent to and published by secular periodicals. The Letters to the Editor must be a reaction to an article or reader’s letter printed by that particular periodical, which begs refutation or clarification from a purely Christian standpoint, presented in a well-written, sensitive, and thought-provoking manner.
RULES
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible, the Letter to the Editor must have been published in a mainstream, secular periodical, as determined by the Awards Panel
The Letter to the Editor must have been published between January 1 and December 31, 2006
Online publications are not accepted
Eligible candidates must be at least 18 years of age
CONTENT
The Letter to the Editor must be in response to an article or a reader’s letter published by that periodical, which deals with a current event or issue that necessitates a Christian perspective.
The Letter to the Editor must be well- written, sensitive, and thought-provoking.
JUDGING
In addition to content, qualified articles will be judged on the following primary considerations:
Persuasive power of the letter
Author’s skill in relating God’s word to current interest issues
Decisions by the Judges and Awards Panel will be final
SUBMISSION
The entry must be sent in the form of a hard copy of the letter, accompanied by the published version directly from the periodical, containing publication name and date, as well as a copy of the article or reader’s letter to which you are responding.
All entries must be postmarked on or before January 31, 2007 of the following year
Entries cannot be returned
