View Full Version : Non-Denom Code of Conduct

I know there has been some confusion over who can post what in this forum. Som have questions about who is or isn't "non-denominational." Others about the line between fellowship and debate.

I have attempted to clarify some of this through an updated code of conduct (http://www.christianforums.com/t2936040) for posting in this forum. Please take a moment, click the link, and read through the document.

These are not forum-specific rules. Rather, they are clarifications of the existing forum rules. If you have any questions about what anything in the code of conduct means or would like anything further clarified, please reply to this post. While the rules themselves are not up for debate, discussion of what they mean and how they will be implemented are always open for discussion.

At the same time, we will be moderating more tightly with regard to the two primary issues in the article:

1) Debate in this forum by denominational members.
2) Slights of other denominations by non-denominational members.

Hmmm, sounds like more muzzling is in store. Why don't you guys just give us all prepared scripts? Or maybe we should all just "sit around" and "look" at each other. I think we should be able to say what we believe about something even if someone doesn't like what we say. That's my opinion.

Where's the love, Lynn?

emergentpdx has to put up with an awful lot of strife that tries to make it's way into this subforum, mostly denom x doesn't worship God like I do so x isn't Christian.

A lot of newbies come to non denom not understanding what it's about. So we get a lot of posts here that would normally go elsewhere. Blessings, Tapero

I initally came here without fully reading things, thinking this was the Christan generel board for discussions that do not concern any demonation in particular. I stayed because I like it here. I have avoided debating with anyone over demonatinal differences. I'm ok, right?

I attend a charismatic non-denominational church, and I self-identify with my faith icon as SF/PC. That is NOT a denomination. Please add to your list of possible non-denom icons the SF/PC one.

Thank you.

OK to post in fellowship and to ask questions, but not to take part in the debate and discussions. I know there has been confusion over this, which is why we've reworked the sticky and are trying to get word out. We aren't going to be issuing warnings for it and I admit the line between fellowship and debate can be fuzzy in places, but we are going to start taking a harder line on this issue. It's just too difficult to keep a handle on it when we allow it to slide in one thread, then have to reign it in in another.

I understand the situation. Unfortunately, you are going to need to pick one way or the other. It would be far too difficult for us to moderate if we don't use the faith icons to help manage membership in this subforum. While I understand "sf/pc" is not a denomination, there is an sf/pc congregational forum here. For the purposes of the CF congregational forums, sf/pc is considered denominational. Think of this forum as the place for people who don't fit into the other forums. You are welcome to fellowship here, but if you wish to take part in debate and discussion, you will need to change your faith icon.

The purpose of the congregational subforums is to give people places to gather with others from their congregation for safe discussion. There are plenty other forums (see the theology and ministry forums, for example) for discussion between members of different congregataions. It has nothing to do with muzzling. This forum just has a different purpose than other forums. Since members of other congregations are not allowed to defend themselves, it is not fair to attack them.

I will abide by your rules, even though I am not in agreement with you, emergent. My SF/PC identification is more important to me than the non-denom. I would've preferred, of course, to maintain dual citizenship, but I shall acquiesce.

blessings on you
