Any suggestions?...

well...here is my delimma...therre are no Lutheran Churches in the San Antonio area that have wednesday night services (this includes LCMS and the one Free Lutheran congregation)...I really want to go to a wednesday night service (preferably with communion [eucharist]) anythoughts of which way I should go?...there are some Episcopal Churches close, but to be honest I'm still a little bitter about what happend in Beaumont...anybody?...any thoughts?...

little far to commute...and it's just so dern cold...I found and Anglican congregations last night (not Episcopalian...Anglican)and we did evening prayer...it was nice...the people were great...the service a bit blaise...but then I didn't go to John Hagee's Church (which is an option...it's only five miles from me) where you have to stand and clap after every sentence...

Good for you. Besides, as we all know, every sermon he gives is somehow tied in with a pre-trib, heretical version of the Rapture. Not to mention it seems the only sins his Bible mentions are homosexuality and being a Democrat.

Have you checked to see if the ones who don't have services have a prayer group or Bible study on Wednesday.

Our Church reserves Wednesday for Bible study, book group, and prayer in the parlor and they don't advertise it so you wouldn't know unless you inquired...

If your desire is simply the eucharist mid-week I would talk to your pastor about receiving it privately. If you are looking for whole worship along with the eucharist, I would say three thigns.
1) Even if the LCMS church offered the Eucharist, I'm not confident they would commune you (especiallyin San Antonio, southern US consists of much conservative LCMS)
2) Episcopal wouldn't be a bad choice, especially since the ELCA is in complete fellowship with them, there is an acknowledgement of serious ecumenical unity, which is a good thing.
3) In the end, I would say that you should ultimately go anywhere you can receive what you desire-both in word and in sacrament. I personally am not big on the confessional needs for seeking a "common eucharist" if you ask me. I do not believe that Christ intended or instituted the Lord's Supper as a confessional issue to farther divide the church. After all its called "communion" their is a sense of community. And as Lutherans we believe in the emphasis of God's Word and the individual's faith. Thus anywhere you receive the sacrament where it is bound to the Word, the church (no matter what they think it is) cannot alter or affect the Word of God. Trust that the sacrament you take be it at an episcopal,lutheran, reformed, catholic, or any other church you can think of, that is what Christ says it is. The integrity and beliefs of the Pastor cannot alter it.
