This book refutes The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown.

It's really well written. It explores the reasons this book became a best seller.

It describes the history of the gnostic gospels, what they teach and how the tenets of the Da Vinci Code fly in the face of historical facts.

I've never read the Code and never will. I don't want to read anything that disrespects the entire christian faith, let alone the Catholic faith. If an inaccurate book were written about Islam or another religion, there would have been a huge outcry.

The Da Vinci Hoax is very educational and helps a christian know how to recognize various forms of thinking that denigrate our faith. These streams of thought can be subtle.

The book is very deep. I often had to re-read a paragraph a couple times to understand things.

Reading this book will make you proud of the christian and catholic faith.

There's also one by Amy Wellborn who wrote the Prove It series of small books. I gave it to our catholic H.S. library...but can't remember the exact title(my daughter is the librarian :)....just in case some of the kids have read the Code. It may be a little simpler to read than Hoax. Someone else had ordered the Code for the library but our Pastor, who serves as part time advisor there, had it taken off the shelf much to the delight of my daughter. He's very orthodox and it's a very small library so why clutter it up with junk. The upcoming movie will only make things worse. It's open season on Catholic beliefs and history. M.A.

Thanks for the tip on the other book.
Nice to hear about the Pastor taking it off the library shelves!

Good to hear others complain about that book, it is so inaccurate, it's pathetic.

People don't realize it's a work of fiction, just another book about a Vatican conspiracy.

I didn't read the book or go see the movie. I made reparation to God against the movie by supporting the TFP in the outstanding reparation protest they organized all over the U.S. I did read the Da Vinci Hoax and found it to be very informative and learned alot as I didn't know too much about the gnostic gospels.

It looks interesting!

I tell ya, I read the code and really enjoyed the story. It's a wonderful work of fiction just like National Treasure or Indiana Jones..

I also read the Pre-quill Angels and Demons which was way better than the code IMO!

THE CODE was a very weak read, especially when compared with strong, well-thought out and much more "informed" conspiracy fun such at the great Umberto Eco's books "Foucault's Pendulum".
