I'm so excited about Pascha this year, it will be my first! I just had to share my excitment. :D
However, i'm a bit nervous because my Priest has convinced me to join the Choir! and now, i'm a part of it, the same goes for Andreas. :P
Also, i wanted to ask if anyone knows where i can find the Cyrillic alphabet? Please and Thank you.
God bless.

Ask your priest for help.
Some parishes that I have been in have the cyrillic transliterated into English or Latin phonetics.

Thank you Aria. Last night at PSL the reader came up to me and told me he would try to teach me, out of no where, wasn't that nice?

Congratulations!
It will be my first Pascha as well.
I was dragged into the choir by both the Priest and the choir members plus a large majority of the congregation (you had it easy^_^ )
Yesterday we practiced the entire Easter service (which took ages!).
We also have a recording of previous Paschas so I have been listening to that.
I LOVE the "Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and on those in the tombs bestowing life!" song. It is amazing....though I am glad I don't have to sing soprano! (they sing a very high F!)

Thanks for the congrats, the same goes for you. We will both be experience this beautiful service and time togeather for the first time!
Haha! Did you really get dragged in that way? My Priest asked me to join infront of all the people in Church after DL, he kinda put me on the spot, and forced me to say yes. He had the biggest smirk on his face, because Papa new i wouldn't say no. :P
OO, thank's for quoting the song, Pascha will be served mostly in Russian in my Church, but tomarrow duing Choir practice, i will look over the Enligh translation. I know it will be beautiful!
I don't sing saprano either, are you kidding me?! lols.. i sing Alto.

The Paschal hymn (Christ is risen........tombs bestowing life) is repeated throughout the service and it is really really catchy.
I've had it in my head constantly since I had the practice two days ago.
Also it is in Russian and Greek so I have learned Christ is Risen etc in Russian!
Today I went to the anglican services (because my family is anglican) and I just couldn't help but sing the Paschal hymn.
At this rate the real Pascha service is going to be difficult for me....I'll have the resurrection hymn in my head. lol!
I hope you have a great time in the service and enjoy Holy Week!

And Christ is Risen from the Dead... will be stuck in your head for years to come. I was singing it in the parking lot once last year and people were giving me odd looks. Now they still give me odd looks cuz I'll wear a scarf leaving and coming back from church. And today they looked at the palms and pussywillows and probably thought I was way off on days. :D Little do they know!
Oh, and we had an Etiopian gentleman show up today. He was raised RC but after one service is very interested. Just doesn't like the thought of being between sacraments... :(
Church was packed already today. It's going to be insane at Pascha. We probably had 150 people, when on a usual Sunday it's maybe 40.

You really do have it stuck in your head don't you? That's good! I'll have to wait until tomarrow to go over the Paschal hymn, and i'm looking forward to it.
Also, i know i will have a great time in the service, i just hope i don't mess up in the Choir. :sorry:

Christ is Risen from the dead!
Trampling Death by Death!
And on those in the tombs bestowing life!
I went to two western Easter services and they didn't feel right. They just felt like a western service. (apart from the CofE one was nice and I was thinking that they were starting to asopt Orthodox traditions...but then at the Creed they used the filioque...talk about spoiling the moment.)
The CofE I went to is starting to get some icons. The gospel has a gold icon of the Pantocrator on it (which is displayed in the procession) and there is an icon of the Theotokos at the front, an original icon!
Still it doesn't feel right and I thought the service was quite Roman in feel.
I am really really looking forward to Pascha!

I remember this hymn now! A lady in Church was singing it in the bathroom yesterday, LoLs.
Furthermore, what you said about the two western Easter is interesting. However, i'm pretty sure you would'nt be the only one who wouldn't feel right during that particular service.:P
