I'm in the process of setting up my garden (lots of digging - this is what I do between inhaling latex paint fumes) and I'm going to make a small 'shrine' (for the lack of a better word) at the end of it with an icon in a weatherproof container.
Like this: http://www.easternchristiansupply.biz/extras/41651.d/41651.jpeg

Now, which Saints would be suitable to have as a protector of a garden, crops, fruits of the earth?? I'm drawing a blank here.
I know you can have the Theotokos there too, but I'm trying to go over all options.

Thank you in advance!

Maybe one of the saints that lived in the wilderness. I dont know of enough saints to give specific names.

I have no idea where you would find an icon like this but what about the Theotokos Enhancer of the grain harvest:

Maybe St. Irene Chrysovantou. While she was praying two great Cypress trees bowed down to her:

editOh! and I almost forgot. she was given three apples from paradise which smelled and tasted heavenly.

This is simply lovely. Notice the huge flowers too.

What do all the labels and scenery depict?

If I remember correctly they are petitions of the poor, homeless, and sick to the theotokos.

How about St Onouphrios he was found wearing nothing but a garment made of leaves, and when he died the palm tree that he used for nourishment withered up.
