These year the entries were all amazing and believe me, it's the best year yet!!! I can't imagine how amazing Christmas is going to be!!! :)

I'm so grateful to God because He's been affirming my passion for design in the past while! I want to use it to bring glory to God and want to dedicate my life to this! I'm not always so professional 100% of the time (I disappointment myself a bit with this competition) but I know this is want He wants from me and it brings me SOOO much joy to be able to help while fulfilling my desire, passion and love!

I love the fact that this is open up to the boards! Awesome, awesome idea! It's so awesome too to see the creativity from other people since it's so personal and everyone has a different approach and it's good to try different ideas!

but I also don't understand why others didn't win, like the one by Rose D with three crosses and the one by casting989 with the cross an bread&wine, and also mine with Jesus in the sky and sunrays... While some other submissions won that had poor editing and look very patchy with bad clipart images....kinda makes me scratch my head o.o .....sorry don't mean to be a sore loser, but just seeing some of the winning logos as I browse through the CF and see them makes me wonder....

Wow, some of these are absolutely incredible.

May I suggest that one of the top 3 be used as complete replacements for the original logo? They are much better looking.

but I also don't understand why others didn't win, like the one by Rose D with three crosses and the one by casting989 with the cross an bread&wine, and also mine with Jesus in the sky and sunrays... While some other submissions won that had poor editing and look very patchy with bad clipart images....kinda makes me scratch my head o.o .....sorry don't mean to be a sore loser, but just seeing some of the winning logos as I browse through the CF and see them makes me wonder....


was there some mistake that I made or did you just not like my submissions, for example this one?

The 'cartoon' ones by Casting989 were stunningly good. I'd say that they were being considered for one of the top 3. The high quality just wasn't there in yours. It's like the alpha version of the product.

But Jesus, I really should have worked on him more, the black outline is really horrible.... But the simplicity of it was part of the design, I liked that. But yeah, I agree it did need a lot more work.

God bless you for being able to accept some critisism! After being on these, and other, forums for a while, I've learned that not everyone can. I was almost expecting to be reported for flaming... :sigh: Yes, that does happen!

I think it takes a lot of effort to make 'simple' look good. You definetely put more effort into this than I did though (which would be a big, fat zero)!

different styles and different concepts and ideas appeal to different people, nobody would agree 100% on who's should be best or otherwise.

I doubt that those that were chosen won based on being "the best" in every way, but rather on what the judge found personally appealing on numerous fronts, not any one thing in particular

Please try to remember that this is just supposed to be a bit of fun for people, and who did and didn't "win" doesn't really matter - what's important is that everyone was allowed to have a go, and should have simply had fun in doing so.

I entered last year's Easter & Christmas competitions and was fortunate enough to have a couple of my entries selected - but I didn't care about winning, I just took joy in the challenge - and i think THAT is what this is supposed to be about.

I think if anyone wants to design simply for reward, this probably isn't the best place to be doing it.

And yes, there is also something to be said for being graceful in "defeat" - although as I've already tried to point out (and no doubt not very well) the success is in "how you play the game" not in who "wins".

It's very easy to get deffensive and feel put out if we work hard on something and think we've done a good job of it, only to have someone else appear to disagree with you - but that's something that everyone faces in life, and some of us many times. You' just have to get on with it, keep working hard, and most importantly, always be happy to know that you've done your best - and your best is the only thing God ever asks of us, He doesn't expect us to do more than that, so if you know you've done your best, it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks - or what else it my be compared to in the end.

I really don't like what you did to the 'home' button! That thumping heart just seems out of place. Other than that, your logo is spot on!

Actually, I understand your design and its simplicity and love it for it. What people don't realize is how difficult it is to hand draw images like that especially with whatever software you used (I assume it's not professional). However, though I may not always be able to design great stuff, I can spot good design and see the potential. Just looking at the Jesus figure and the bg (ignoring the text, which I do find is low res), I'm impressed. It's scratchy but that doesn't indicate poor resolution at all. You got my vote. :)

I totally agree :)

Even though I'm new at making stuff, I never use any cliparts or googled images or anything like that, because I want to do everything by myself, even if it's worse than it would be if I used some already existing pic made by someone else... that way, I'm actually happier with the final result knowing that I made everything, and I also learn more. :) (Wow, that was a long sentence :P)

We Orthodox tend to be late to everything. :)

Orthodox Easter was a week after Western Easter this year and we wanted to continue CF's celebration of the Resurrection with contributions that represent our faith, and to share them with everyone.
