Hey everyone! Long time no see! Hey I wanted to know if anyone got to see the Ten Commandments on ABC yesterday and the day before? I watched it expecting something close to the original movie with Charles Heston, but it wasn't. Because I am not exactly familiar with the WHOLE story of Moses, I wasn't sure if this movie was closer to the truth than the orignal. Any comments?

I wish I could comment, we were planning to watch it this evening and I "dvr'd" it and didn't realize it was a two parter, so I only have part one ACK!!! What a bummer, we were planning to watch it this evening after our celebration, but I am going to have to rethink that I guess....

I DVR'd all of it and have watched parts of it. I liked much of what they did - Moses as a human - but disliked it when he said before the battle with the Amelakites - "God has saved us twice - we can't expect another miracle". Huh?
Overall, I thought it was pretty good. Not great, but pretty good.
Try reading Exodus for yourself. It's not very long. It's an amazing story. And keep realizing that Moses was 80 years old when he led the Israelites out of Egypt and 120 when they arrived at the Promised Land.
Also, Moses was frightened, impatient, bad tempered, etc. Not unlike ourselves! Best of all, G-d called Moses his friend!

LOL - happens to me all the time. :D
Try Moses, Prince of Egypt - Walt Disney, I think. It's quite good and has a great SALVATION message, believe it or not. Not too many jarring notes!

:)
Prophetable,
Yes,...in one word: JESUS CHRIST
Everything we're not, for starters.
Everything Righteous in us, when His Light shines from the inside out.
What does that that mean? THE GOD KIND OF LOVE
Until we all come into the Unity of faith of this one word, we ain't got Unity. :preach:
We might swim close to it.......but what good does that do for others in the Body? Huh?
Hope:
But God's Love is taking us out of some of this, I trust.
But I have to hear this first,...lest I pick up a hard stone and start wanting to pull
my arm back and sling just because others aren't coming along as fast as ~I~ believe
they should. Peeee-shawwww! JESUS IS LORD.
Last time I read my bible it said that THE LORD GOD was and still is THE I AM. :)
Bless you,
Connie

Anybody know the ten commandments off by heart?
:)I memorized them as a child, but not sure I could recite them word for word anymore, the brain not being quite so fresh as it was back then. ;)
My 12yo daughter is reciting in my ear as follows:
Thou shalt not have any gods before Me.
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Thou shalt not kill.
Thou shalt not steal.
Thou shalt not disrespect your mother and father.
Thou shalt not take the LORD's name in vain.
Something about the neighbor and their animals and everything.
Thou shalt not lie.
Honor the Sabbath because it's holy.Well, 8 and kind of a half is pretty good considering it's been a few years since she memorized them. :D
I was able to remember "no idols" and "no coveting" while she was saying what she remembered, so between us, we managed the whole list.
This is probably a good time to re-start our family memorization program.

Hi again ! :)
Just curious - We've all been taught that we should know our bibles. One day I realised I couldn't even remember all the Ten Commandmants out of order even.
I had listened to Ray Comfort speak on peoples need of the Law to reveal their sin. Most of you have propably heard of him. It was called the Way of the Master. Although it contained some good knowledge, I don't stringently follow the formula, although it is useful. The Way of the Master of course, also involved Raising the dead, Cleansing the Lepers, Healing the sick, Casting out the Devil.. etc. So I think we need to catch up on some of that methodology too !! :)
However, I learn't the Ten Commandments off by heart and it was quite satisfying. They can be effectively used in sharing the gospel.

If I remember right... It is
have no other gods before me
have no idols
do not use my name in vain
remember the sabbath
honor thy mother and father
do not bear false witness
do not steal
do not commit adultry
do not kill
do not covet
That took some thought... couldn't think what one I was missing... then I remembered adultry.

Their methods helped my brother-in-law come to Yeshua! Those are a couple of great guys!

Through wahting it and talking to one of my 24/7 leaders. It wasn't that close at all, they left out things and added things, like the media usually does. So personaly I don't think that it was that close either, but it is up to you, as to what you think.

What I, and I've heard many others say, didn't like was that they made Moses look completely Insane.

I can actually agree with that, Moses always appeared to be hearing God's voice in his head, almost like if he was insane. If only they changed that part around it would have been really good.

Actually, no, they're not. Putting a false god in before G-d is one, and having a statue or an image of a god is another one. :)

I think I always mix up a few commandments (out of order, I mean). But I fairly know all of them:
(1) I am YHWH your elohim who brought you up out of the land of Egypt out of the house of bondage: You shall have no other elohim before me.
(2) You shall not make for yourself any idol of any likeness that is in heaven nor on the earth beneath nor in the sea below, you shall not bow down to them nor serve them, for YHWH your Elohim is a jealous Elohim, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations, and showing mercy to the thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
(3) You shall not take the name of YHWH your Elohim in vain, for YHWH will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.
(4) Remember the sabbath day to guard it as sacred; in it you shall not do any work; you, nor you daughter, nor your manservant nor your maidservant, nor your ox or your donkey or the stranger within your gates; for in six days YHWH created heaven and earth, the sea and all that are in them
(5) Honor your father and mother that your days may be long upon the land YHWH your Elohim gives you.
(6) You shall not steal
(7) You shall not commit adultery
(8) You shall not kill
(9) You shall bear false witness against your neighbor
(10) You shall not covet anything that is your neighbor's
And that's all I can remember. I'm about to check and see how I did...
EDIT
Yeah I messed up a couple times. Almost had it though.
