Had a very fine parish mass this morning with procession of palms and am up to evensong and benediction in about an hour (Rachmaninoff today...). :liturgy:

All glory, laud, and honour
to thee, Redeemer, King,
to whom the lips of children
made sweet Hosannas ring.

We not just had wonderful Rachmaninoff for the Evensong canticles and O salutaris hostia/Tantum ergo, but also Allegri's beautiful "Miserere mei". Very good and uplifting.

It is effectively used to mean "praise God!". According to footnotes in NLT Bible; "Hosanna, an exclamation of praise that literally means 'save now'."
