I was just wondering if Messianics still adhere to eating only Kosher foods or do y'all eat treif as well?

Jesus did say that there is no food that is unclean, so I thought maybe being fellow believers y'all might eat treif. Just curious.:)

Some of us do, some of us don't! I tend to fall into the latter category. I have however begun to be more concious of how I live regarding the law, not because I am called to keep the law, as a gentile I am not, but it is from God and is therefore good and much of it is good to keep. Of course knowing Jews, it is also better for me to try to keep kosher and be aware of it so as not to upset them.

Jesus say all food is clean. Or did he?
Mark 7: 1-3
The Pharisees and some of the teachers of the law who had come from Jerusalem gathered around Jesus and
Saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were "unclean," that is, unwashed.
(The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders. (They believe demons hang onto people’s hands.
This is a man-made tradition and not in Torah.)
18"Are you so dull?" he asked. "Don't you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him’ unclean'?
Jesus was talking to Jews. What they were eating was not the issue. It was the ceremonial unclean hands that made the kosher food unclean. According to there man made tradition.
19 For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body." (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean.")
(In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)
This verse is not in the original text.
In the preface in the front of your Bible it says.
“To achieve clarity the translators sometimes supplied words not in the original texts, it is enclosed in brackets.” (,)
[Clarity from whose point of view?]
Jesus never said. (In saying this, Jesus declared all "foods" "clean.")

(EDITED): The fact is, this is a true statement. All “FOOD” is clean. He was speaking to Jews after all. The issue was hand washing. FOOD[/U]” is still “FOOD”. And "FOOD” will not make one unclean.]
The hardest thing for Gentiles to understand is that when ever the word “FOOD” appears in the Bible whether old or New Testament it is always referring to Lev 11: 1-47 in other words [B]what animals did God create to be used as food?
God did not; create all animals to be called food. Lev 11:1-47
The LORD said… 'Of all the animals that live on land, these are the ones you may eat: (call food.) If it is not on the list it is not even called food. It’s not food. Just animals.

Ya know visionary we are eating a lot more vegetarian than ever before.
The cost of Kosher meat makes us eat less meat. Usually meats on Friday night & holydays. We like the vegetarian “meat balls” “Sausage” & “Ground meat” All vegetarian. But the Tofo thing just don't cut it.

I'm a third generation lacto-ovo vegetarian - and I have to agree tofu, generally speaking, just doesn't cut it. :) But there is some new tofu stuff my mom buys that is really yummy.

We eat Biblically kosher as well...we also try to eat as much organic as we can afford. I usually purchase kosher meats, but when I cannot I will salt them to remove the blood. Lunch meat is a problem still, I am working on that one. But we are trying...one step at a time we come into more observance, as He leads.

I know what you mean, I saw some kosher sausages the other day and I couldn't believe the price:eek: Fortunately we have a good supermarket that sells lamb and beef sausages which are much more reasonably priced.

As for tofu, my wife is Japanese so I get to eat it regularly and I still can't understand why people like it:scratch:

2 things about buying supermarket meats as well as in meat factory’s that I would like to point out.

1) Lots of sausages lamb and beef are filled into pork casing.

2) The knifes & machinery that cut & grinds the meat would have just ground some pork into sausages then they will grind beef or lamb. In a supermarkets they will lay a slab of pork ribs or pork loin on a table and cut up the meat, then lay your lamb or beef in the same spot and use the same knife that just cut the pork. Watch in a supermarket when they slice up your lunch meat. They slice up pork, chicken & beef on the same machine. The same goes for a restaurants they will cut up pork, squid, octopus, lobster, Etc… then lay your chicken, or stake in the same spot, then on the same grill.

Living G-ds way is a change in lifestyle.
