So, Sharon got re-elected... did this throw anyone for a loop like it did me? I was for sure Netanyahu would win. In fact, I really wanted him back in.
Any thoughts or opinions?
What does this mean for Israel?

I have no pref :)
I really thought Netanyahu was going to win as well...Sharon is more peaceful than Nety so I wonder if he will change now and this will be a new phase for Israel. We will see how this develops.
God bless

I voted on this poll(not in Isreal,heh,heh,heh) for Netanyahu
I fell he will take action and expand the buisness of Isreal kick the evil terrorists butts and have a better chance of rightfully annexing the occupied and that SHOULD NOT occupied and be theres rightfully by tradition:
The West Bank,Golan Heights and the Gaza Strip.
As far as I and many others are concerned IT IS theirs!

Amen!
My thoughts EXACTLY!
I think one of the reasons he didn't win is because Israel restricts from television campaigning... many weren't aware.

Okay ~ I'm going to put myself out on a limb here, and ask an incredibly ignorant question, but I truly want to learn what's going on;
Tell me, what is the difference between Sharon and Netanyahu? Politically, socially and religiously?
Thanks...
I'm gonna go crawl back in my hole now....

Please don't feel bad - that's an EXCELLENT question! In fact, maybe that's what we should all discuss - who is most suitable for Israel and what does Israel need in it's leaders.
Netanyahu was elected years ago before Barak and Sharon. Netanyahu has become much more aggressive in the past couple of years since Sharon was elected. I think Netanyahu will not negotiate when it comes to terrorism, whereas Sharon is more apt to make "deals" with the Palestinians. Religiously, they are religious Jews (as far as I know). Netanyahu is a bit more secularized. Socially, Netanyahu has the most agreeable stance of the two thus far. Netanyahu is a stren man but he is also very convincing - and this is a good thing when it comes to the political climate in Israel. Sharon is less aggressive and I believe he is more intimidated as opposed to intimidating. I know more about Netanyahu then Sharon - and that says something about Sharon's lack of assertion. I think many Americans don't quite know Sharon as well as Netanyahu. Netanyahu is also very supportive od the USA. He has a great friendship without country. The two main parties in Israel are the Labor and the Likud.
