Stupid character limit! I normally put the title of the story as my thread title, but this one is "New discoveries point to 'cave of John the Baptist' as important site in the time of Isaiah," which doesn't fit. Anyway...

Recently completed digging at Israel's Suba Cave, an archaeological site that is possibly connected with John the Baptist, or Jewish groups of his time has revealed features that deepen the mystery of the site's ancient origins, according to University of North Carolina at Charlotte archaeologist James D. Tabor, associate director of the excavation.

I will say I know absolutely nothing about the site this article is on. I just found a link somewhere else and figured it would interest you all. ;)

I can see why archeologists get excited... you never know what is around the corner.

Really neat article! I have read about a site in Jordan down near the entrance of the Jordan River into the Dead Sea. I couldn't tell if this was the same place or not. Where's a good map when you need one? :)

everywhere you step, literally, in Israel you step on history - it just needs digging up before the Muslims try to grind it to dust and say it never existed ....
