Is there a prevailing view in the RM church regarding this?

No one wants to touch this one, eh?

Well at my school(Ozark Christian College) the common belief is that you can lose salvation.

Hi Menno - I think it depends on how many people you ask!
Campbell wrote...
And while the commands "believe," "repent," and "be baptized" are never accompanied with any intimation of peculiar difficulty; the commands to the use of the means of spiritual health and life; to form the Christian character; to attain the resurrection of the just; to lay hold on eternal life; to make our calling and election sure, etc., are accompanied with such exhortations, admonitions, cautions, as to make it a difficult and critical affair, requiring all the aids of the Spirit of our God, to all the means of grace and untiring assiduity and perseverance on our part; for it seems "the called" who enter the stadium are many, while "the chosen" and approved 11 are few"; and many, says Jesus, "shall seek to enter into the heavenly city, and shall not be able."

So it is a disputed doctrine amongst the RM also...?

I haven't met someone in the RM who says they are OSAS, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Most are pretty close to the Anabaptist or Armenian salvific theology.

OSAS is out.
God would never abandon His children, but His children certainly abandon Him sometimes.
Scripture makes that clear.

Revelations 3:15-16:
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold or hot, I will spue thee out of My mouth.
___________________________
God wants us to be fervent in our faith. If one becomes lukewarm, he or she will be spued out of His mouth. This is how I beleive we can lose our salvation. But if we repent we can save ourselves once again. Just pray that our judgement does not come when we are lukewarm.
