Is there a good book any of you can recommend that talks about the history and beliefs of the LC-MS. I picked up “ A History of Lutheranism” by Eric W. Gritsch, but it doesn’t contain much about the LC-MS.

"Zion on the Mississipi" by Walter Forster is the standard work, it's very readable and pulls no punches.

Here (http://www.cph.org/cphstore/product.asp?part%5Fno=124222&find%5Fcategory=&find%5Fdescription=&find%5Fpart%5Fdesc=zion), CPH has packaged it with two other books...looks interesting.

Suelflow's biography of Walther (http://www.cph.org/cphstore/product.asp?category=&part%5Fno=531030&find%5Fcategory=&find%5Fdescription=&find%5Fpart%5Fdesc=walther) is excellent if somewhat Hagiographical.

Are you familiar with this site?

http://chi.lcms.org/

You can order back issues of their periodical

http://chi.lcms.org/publications/chiqback.htm

In addition to the ones mentioned, the only other book I am aware of is "Authority Vested" by Mary Todd
