I have a question that has been nagging me ever since this (edit) severe tingling feeling has hit me. Evertime i pray about something serious or come into contact with anything about jesus or god i get this tingling feeling that starts at my head and travels to my toes. What is this? A penecostal friend told me that it was the holy ghost trying to reach me but im not sure what it is. Sometimes it gets so strong that i feel as if im about to pass out. At church i sometimes get dizzy. But im seeking advice on what this exactly is.

I wish I had a better answer for you. But the fact is that the Holy Spirit which works in me, does not work exactly the same in you. Some Pentecostal Holiness churches believe that when you "speak in tongues" this is the Holy Spirit working in the believer. And I do not doubt it. But being a Baptist, I can say with honesty that I have never seen this particular gift ever being practiced in the Baptist church. But that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen either. The Holy Spirit works differently in each believer. While praying I can hear the "still, small voice." This I believe is God talking through the Holy Spirit to me. What you are experiencing may very well be the Holy Spirit working in you, I would suggest that provided you have one, enter your prayer closet and pray that God would reveal to you what He is doing in you through the Spirit. And by "prayer closet" I mean some place where you can separate yourself from everything and commune with God alone. This may include you cleaning out a small space in your clothes closet for example. Or it may be that you go in your room, close the door, turn off anything which would be a distraction and pray. God will reveal to you what He is doing. And I suggest that you also visit some Pentecostal Holiness churches or a few Church of God that may be near your house. What you describe sounds an awful lot like what they proclaim and practice. Try to visit and see if this is what you are experiencing.

Oh thank goodness I was afraid I was the only one who gets that way:amen: ah...I get that too and I, a baptist, firmly believe that the Holy Spirit is flowing through me...I get that way whenever I sing Prince of Peace...I feal It flowing through me I definatly think its the Holy Spirit....either that or my circulation gets cut off whenever I sing that song...but I dont think that that is it.

Does this only happen in church? Is it after standing for a long time, or when sitting? I think you would need to look at the pattern, and then see whether it happens in the same way when you are at home, but not praying.

If you can stand up for half an hour at home, quite happily, but after a few minutes in church this happens, then it would seem related to the church experience. If it happens wherever you are, then it might need checking out with a doctor.

It also strikes me as odd for the numb feeling to work from the head down. Normally the body will protect the brain, and so any numbness would work from the extremities towards the brain.

I am not sure what the point would be for the Holy Spirit to make someone feel numb. That would seem rather meaningless, to me. But what do I know?

Its not exactly a numb feeling with me its more of a tingling you know I just know that its the Holy Spirit and I know it doesnt happen unless I am experiencing something religous

There is another possibility, Meizler: that this is a demonic attack. If so, may the Lord rebuke it.

Ramdar Goftar, how do you feel after these "blessings"? Relaxed? Cleansed? Exhausted?

Like Ramdar said its not realy a numb feeling its more of a tingling, i dont loose anything like feeling i just get overwhelmed with the tingling that it feels as if i do. But yes this only occurs when it has to do with church and when i say church i mean anything to do with God, Jesus etc and so forth. And no it just dosent happen when im just walking down the road and poof that tingling feeling hits me. Its only centralized on Jesus and God. And to refrence to that its common for the tingling to occur from toes on up to the head, its totaly opposite. Head to Toe. Also a note to the demonic attack, that has crossed my mind multiple times but i dont believe that its exactly that, infact if the demonic attack is issued to draw me closer to Jesus and God then its working. This feeling has increased my faith ten fold. I believe it more to be a calling to something.

i feel both relaxed and cleansed I feel full of the Holy Spirit...Thats all I can describe it as...I dont know why people are trying to make it sound like its just something else why is it such a bad thing for the Holy Spirit to move you...in my opinion if the Holy Spirit blesses someone we shouldnt try to shut it down as something else I think we should be happy for those who the Holy Spirit affects

The bible talks about skeptics, its something that will always be there.

Praise the Lord, then! The one thing I would add is that He generally gives such signs for a reason. It may be that, next time the Spirit moves you like this, you both should ask Him, "To what are you calling me? How can I bless others with the blessing I have received?"

May God continue to bless you both.

talk to your pastor but I would also see a doctor about it. I don't think seeing a doctor would be a lack of faith.

~ It sounds like the Holy Spirit is wanting to minister to you. I think it is a very good thing.

~ Continue to discuss amongst yourselves...

I think it could perhaps be God calling us to him

God's Holy spirit probably effects us all different. I dont know about a numb feeling. I know for me, I have felt God spirit manifest in my life in a tangible way...but I have never felt numb but very much alive. It is as if my insides are quaking but my body isnt.

The first time I ever felt that was in a church service where the minister spoke on somthign that really convicted me in my life....I started shaking in my heart but my hands were steady. After the service I promptly wnent and found a quiet place to repent and talk to God.

It has happend since, and is usually a cleansing very alive but a very strange feeling, I would not describe it as numb, but not normal either!!!

God is calling us
As well as speaking to us
Through His Son Jesus Christ
Our Savior & Lord

I shouldent of used the "numb" term because its more of a tingling, i dont loose feeling, its just a sever tingling that feels as if the hairs on my arms raise up.
