Alabama Churches Set AblazeSaturday, February 04, 2006
http://www.foxnews.com/images/foxnews_story.gif

CENTREVILLE, Ala. — The search for a possible arsonist or arsonists was under way Friday after six small churches in rural Alabama were found burning. At least five of the fires were suspected to have been set deliberately.
The fires were set "as fast as they could drive from one location to the next," Bibb County Chief Deputy Sheriff Kenneth Weems said of the cluster of blazes, all near U.S. 82 and Highway 139.
Most of the churches were Baptist and all were in Bibb County, about 25 miles south of Birmingham. Of the five suspected to have been targeted by arsonists, three were destroyed and two others were damaged.
The Bibb County fire marshal told a Friday afternoon news conference that the investigation into the cause and origin of the five fires was continuing, and he couldn't release much information about what, if anything, authorities had learned.
"We're not sure that all five of them were set fires," he said. "It's hard to believe that all of them were accidental."
The churches that burned Friday morning included Rehobeth Baptist Church in Randolph, Ashby Baptist Church in Brierfield, Old Union Baptist Church in Brierfield, Pleasant Sabine southeast of Centerville and Antioch Baptist Church in Antioch, FOX affiliate WBRC in Birmingham, Ala., confirmed. New Harmony Holiness Baptist Church in Fairview, Chilton County, was also ablaze. Ashby Baptist and Rehobeth Baptist both burned to the ground.

Well Red, that's a good attitude.

I would be devastated only because old churches hold many memories including weddings, baptisms, and such.

It has got to really hurt the members there.
I think it would make me cry.

But I suppose you are correct in being hopeful.

I am truly glad they located the culprits. I am sorry they messed up their lives by doing something so stupid. So many young people's philosopy of life doesn't seem to take into consideration that their actions can have such a devastating effect on others (they often times don't even seem to care). It's the get my thrills mentality and not consider the repercussions. I need to pray for these boys.... that God gets a hold of their hearts.

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Hosea 8:7 For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind...

When any nation tries to mock God by removing Him from His rightful place this is what results. Ever since prayer in the schools was removed, teen crime has skyrocketed. America and other so-called "Christian" nations built on Christian principles need to turn back to the only One who can bring peace in place of the turmoil we face today. Sadly this will not happen until God brings it about in His sovereignty - when "the kingdoms of this world become the Kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ" (Rev 11:15):prayer::bow:

When we mock God
We mock the things He creates
As well as worst and most of all
His one and only begotten Son Jesus
That is like being sacreligious IMHO!

Well, there have been other bad news the past few weeks.
The Annunciation Basilica in Nazareth has been blown up. :( An Isreali couple went in and blew it up.
That is the sight where the angel Gabriel came to the Virgin and announced her conception.

EDIT: to add that the above was in the paper, but here is the actual scoop.

it is very sad to me for all the things that are happening everywhere.... but we must think....God didn't say that being a Christian was going to be easy...I think that in America we dont get as much persecution as in other places because of our freedoms....But maybe (And dont take this the wrong way) those people who are being persecuted are better off...I mean how many of us could seriously say that in those situations we could stand up for our faith...I think that it might be a good thing for us to experience a little persecution now and then because we get a taste of what it really is out there...but Praise God we will never be stopped:clap:

Uhmm ok. I thought ancient Israel was the last time God had a Nation?

Well, there should be something said about removing prayer.
I think it has been a detriment.

But the end scoop was that since they burned down one, they thought it was cool and decided to burn several more.

I never mentioned anything about Christian nations being hand picked by God like Israel was now did i??? Christian nations are those who have been built upon Judeo-Christian principles and acknowledge the supremacy of God.
However, in so-called "Christian" nations, God is being mocked by scorning His laws and precepts. As Isaiah prophecied of Israel centuries ago, so says God of these nations today -

Isaiah 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

No, but to me when you call something Christian I thought that implied it was somehow, you know, Christian. :sorry:

Christian nations are those who have been built upon Judeo-Christian principles and acknowledge the supremacy of God.
...but there again it seems (I could be wrong) you are somehow implying America is a Christian nation. If that's not what you're saying that's fine carry on. If you are implying America is a Christian nation, I'm going to have to say... no it's really not. :)

Did you miss when i said in my posts "so-called" Christian nations?? America is not one in actuality because her 'walk' don't equal her 'talk', but, nevertheless, claims to be one .;)

But walk the walk indeed

This is so sad. But I personally find the arson of so many churches to be a much worse travesty than a few small explosions in an Israeli shrine that didn't cause much damage at all.
