Just wondering what folks think about this -

I heard it mentioned that if God made himself visible during a church service, everyone would fall down on their faces in reverent worship and fear.
Therefore, is God present during a church service or not ( invisibly of course) because there seems to be a lack of His presence being seen as "Real",

... ie,... I don't really think we have the awe/fear/reverence of Him that perhaps we should just because we don't see Him.

Your thoughts please....

I agree that far too often we miss the awesomeness of God. If we truly understood it, there would be alot more Holiness among believers. In our day and age we try to make Jesus a vending machine.

I will take one McBlessing. Hold the accountability.

This is not too say we can't have a personal relationship with God. Like many things, this requires balance.

Christ has promised that where two or three are gatherd in His name He would be in the midst ( see my signature). The question is are you gathered in His name? I have a problem with what passes as worship today. When Isaiah saw Christ on the throne he cried woe is me! When Job saw God with spiritual eyes He said I abhor myself! It is true that Christ is the friend of sinners but He is also God almighty, worthy of utmost awe. While He is my friend He ain't my buddy. He is my God.

Isn't it rather paradoxical that God convicts and saves us at the same time? It seems that Isaiah's vision of Jesus Christ in the Temple shows this perfectly.

God exists through Jesus Christ
Who died on the cross and arose from the dead
To pave the way for us
Only if we repent and ask for forgiveness
And accept Christ as Savior & Lord

We look at the moon and see a nice big white circle up there but when you look at it and really start to see an orb floating in the sky you get a whole new sense of appreciation for it.

I just think our entire perspective on the Holiness and Hugeness of God would be amplified if we actually viewed Him as "Real", do you see what I mean?

....another example... at offering time we routinely put in our idea of what is appropriate BUT if Jesus was collecting it, who wouldn't put in every cent they had?....I think we have a long way to go before we have the correct understanding of our relationship with and view of God on a daily basis, we are too blaze. ( my opinion folks, don't freak out! )

Is it a Baptist thing or is it just me or do other demoninations feel the same as I do. I have been to some churches where when you open the door you can "physcially feel" God's presence in that place. And I have been to some churches that definately God was not there. Anybody else had this feeling?
